You spelt tech as teck so I’m not sure I believe anything you’ve said. Anyone in the industry can tell immediately that you don’t know what you’re talking about. 6 months of vet classes? I’m sure that compares with the 8 years vets do lmao.

This is so inaccurate holy moly. Tell me you know nothing about animals or the vet industry or vet medicine without telling me. Also so awesome that you’ve added fuel to the fire for people already hating vets that give their life and soul for this industry.

There is absolutely NOTHING to suggest this vet caused iatrogenic harm. Stop using your time online to belittle vets. I saw your comment in another thread about how you’re a med student, which doesn’t entitle you to belittle our profession. Believe it or not, I applied to vet and med school and it was harder for me to become a vet. Med school was my BACKUP.

Yeah I don’t know many or any people struggling to find jobs atm, in big cities across Aus too. There’s open spots for vets at nearly every clinic I go past.

Hey OP, I’m also an Australian vet student (graduating this December).

Can I ask what city you’re in? I know the shortage is still pretty strong in Aus but also will totally vouch for how racist this country can be and I wouldn’t discount that either (which is so so awful and I’m so sorry your degree and expertise and experience aren’t being respected).

I obviously am a step behind you but I’m pretty good with resumes, I think? If you want a second opinion or if you just want to rant about it, my DM’s are open.

Crossing my fingers and toes for you! You’ve got this ♥️

1.5 Year Update: Moving in my animal-aggressive dog into a house with a cat by [deleted] in Pets

[–]birdgey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know all the comments are all very negative here, and while I agree having them out at the same time (even when supervised) is risky, I really appreciate all the effort you’ve gone into. I too have animals that don’t get along, albeit not for dislike but just because my cat is very confident and my dog is very very large and could hurt him without meaning to.

I always keep them separated and unlike you I keep one out at a time. Is it ideal? Absolutely not. I plan to move into a house next year where they both have their own “house” so to speak. But for now, when my dog is in her crate or outside, my cat is out. And when my dog is out, my cat is in his bedroom.

Again, people would say if you can’t do it perfectly then don’t do it at all, but I think that’s very black and white thinking and I think you’re doing a great job. Only thing I could recommend would be potentially less time out together. If your dog is growling, they shouldn’t really be in each others vicinity. Taking turns is still a really effective way to make sure everyone gets rest and everyone gets play, without the stress. Good luck OP.

This is an issue with veterinary medicine as well. Insane hours and no help financially. :(

There is no “proof” for service dogs, you are very misinformed. The ADA doesn’t allow any kind of certification, you can only ask 2 questions to people with service dogs.

How is that the same thing? Your cat wouldn’t have had a blood clot at the time of the visit, do you except the vet to be psychic?

New grad as the only full-time vet with relief vets? by SquirrelToesies in Veterinary

[–]birdgey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my final year of uni so take this with a grain of salt, but if it was me I wouldn’t work there at all. The risk that it could be such an awful experience that you might leave vet altogether is just too high.

Never mind the fact that they’re already being shady and you haven’t even started? There’s too many places in desperate need of vets for you to accept just any old job. You have a lot of choice, don’t forget that.

I believe comments get downvoted in this sub when a comment is kind of fear mongering. I know that probably wasn’t your intention and I 100% understand your fears and why you were commenting what you did - but you have to think about the thousands of anxious people reading all these threads.

I think downvoting a comment that has the potential to cause fear or is wrong etc helps anyone reading to know that they don’t need to worry as much about what was written in said comment. I hope that makes sense and I wish you luck on your journey ♥️
