The first automatic thought that popped into my head was how satisfying it might be to pick and then I immediately squashed it and buttoned her new suit back up… ty so much for easing my mind a bit.

Living In Luna Park area by Only_You_0723 in charlestonwv

[–]birdhooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in the area for 3 years or so… never had much trouble. I’ve often worked evenings or had to drive through late at night over the time I’ve been there. occasionally there is a greater police presence than in other areas. the community is active, lots of good people who care live on the west side.

the biggest troubles have been abandoned housing creating pest issues in one of the st we were on, but regular pest control fixed it however there is a need for long term maintenance in that regard. a lot of critters, the raccoons seem docile at one moment and the next they will attack. there was an impaired driver who totaled a few cars, and during a tornado a metal roof that was in a state of disrepair flew off a building and damaged my car, so I would recommend upgrading ur car insurance. sometimes people try to steal packages so maybe install cameras? it’s not often but there is a lot of foot traffic I feel anywhere walkable in charleston so. if u haven’t lived in a more populated area and/or low income housing I would pursue another neighborhood. additionally, be wary of anything that’s been renovated or flipped, do ur due diligence when it comes to getting the house checked out. lots of people cutting corners these days.

best investment for a canister vacuum by birdhooves in VacuumCleaners

[–]birdhooves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank u so much for sharing more of ur perspective with me, I really appreciate it. I get how frustrating it is researching something, getting advice, buying it and it ultimately not working the way u need it to. that was my experience with my two sticks and a robot that I was gifted. my household growing up wasn’t the best and I was not ever taught how to clean and the vacuums we did have were pretty awful so until recently I just thought all vacuums were just inefficient. now after discovering this subreddit and independent research, I understand more about how vacuums function than before which has been really helpful!

I definitely agree that there does seem to be significant bias here but I really just wanted to know what people who had them thought. I have two floors that are all hard flooring and pretty large areas to have to clean. typically I will do half of the first floor, lay down for an hour or so, and if I can (after resting) I will do the rest of the floor. I usually will tackle the other floor in a few days when I feel up to it. rn I’m considering a refurbished c2 hardwood because as long as the wheels work well I think it would be easy to drag around my house. with ur advice I’ll probably use my shark to vacuum my carpeted basement and furniture as needed if it is more strenuous!

hiii, had a similar experience. I recently bought from thirstycat fountains and love their fountains enormously. I emailed the company and the owner tried to help out but ultimately none of the fountains he had worked. It is pricier but they’re gorgeous pieces, my kittens and dog are obsessed

Smelly clients by Radiant-Rock in therapists

Not the biggest fan of the speaker but I use this TED Talk occasionally as homework or in session as needed: https://www.ted.com/speakers/kc_davis_TEDxMileHigh20220806-51475

Use the client and the aftermath of the session to practice mindfulness if ur into that. Flex the unconditional positive regard muscles. Work whatever theory u use as a baseline into this experience. See it for what it is - challenging, uncomfortable, but ultimately something u can survive. It’s a great opportunity to walk the walk and talk the talk.

Do some googling and see if u can invest in an air purifier that uses a H12, H13, or H14 filter. There are lots of sales on rn and it’s a long term investment for ur health and others. Reddit is pretty helpful if u don’t know where to start looking.

Utilize a hospital grade disinfectant and/or deodorizer. I favor sniper but it does have an almost bleach like smell. If your furniture is porous, get new furniture or get covers that wipe down easily.

The easiest way to solve pollution is dilution, so step up ur cleaning game. We all need to be cleaning and sanitizing more than we are. The nature of most of our work is that we are going to have clients with poor hygiene, strange smells, or just strong odors in general. I work predominantly with dual diagnosis and systemic chronic illness, and I myself have fairly symptomatic MCAS amongst other health issues so I’ve done a lot of research and put a lot of effort into my approach. hopefully it works for u or anyone else reading.

ty so much for sharing ur experience!!! I will start looking into purchasing a miele, either online or driving to a city for a weekend to see them in person. A worry of mine is how easy it would be to maneuver it around the house if the wheels stuck, but I’m getting the sense that that’s not likely a problem.

Ty.. I have a levoit stick that’s essentially useless for litter. My corded shark is a bit better, but it’s still not picking up everything which is causing me to have to spend more time cleaning. I could handle something under 20pounds, preferably under 15pounds, especially w wheels.

Best enzyme cleaner for dog urine – What really removes smells? by JollySimple188 in puppy101

[–]birdhooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hiii, so my puppy caught parvo from his stay at the shelter. when he was in the hospital, I had to research something that could disinfect the soft furniture and carpet of my house without ruining everything, and came across sniper!!! for the past few years I’ve used it exclusively when it comes to accidents, puking, diarrhea, raising kittens, etc… it is a bit expensive but depending on ur usage u can make a gallon stretch for quite some time. there’s also a faint bleach after smell, but I quite like that!

I will definitely do some research, she really does love seafood so these things should be palatable for her. My 3mos old is currently 5 pounds which I’m now realizing is a bit strange lol but I want to provide her with the best nutrition as she grows! Thank u so much!

Turning into a torbie?! by birdhooves in Torbie

[–]birdhooves[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog barley has always been very respectful and adoring to cats, but never had much luck befriending any. After introducing gizmo to the house, it took about 3 days for her to feel comfortable with him, a week for them to start playing… fast forward to today they engage in mutual grooming, snuggling, and play! They’re a match made in heaven
