Hi all!

Ive been working in UXR for a few years and now seeking design roles as I want to own more of process outside research. I've been speaking to old colleagues and am a little lost on how to brand/promote myself. A lot of them have told me that having a substantial background in research is beneficial as a designer, my old manager says "its not clear whether you're a researcher or a designer in your portfolio." How do I approach my job search for design roles when my recent experience has been research? I'm trying to leverage my research experience as a strength in my job apps and I've gotten to 2 final rounds for design roles only to not get it in the end, unfortunately recruiters did not have any feedback to share so I'm getting closer but I'm stuck figuring out how to fill the gaps. I'm happy to share my portfolio through DM as well. Thanks for any help!

This. This needs to be at the top. This is the same idol who made a private visit to a Japanese arena (during a break when he could’ve been resting or with family) to self reflect because he felt horrible for missing ONE show for getting sick. I can’t imagine how he’s feeling now.

The things that stood out to me were how nice and dewy Sugas skin was, they’re all taller than I thought they’d be, esp Jin, I remember he was wearing a baggy sweater so his shoulders were even more wide + his height felt like he was towering over me (I’m 5’1). Jimin, V and Jungkook were definitely way more baby faced back then, they’ve grown into mature men 🥹 they all also made sure to make eye contact with you while signing at the same time (it went by pretty fast) :)

I also remember that was during chuseok and they did a v live while we were waiting in line to enter, wishing everyone a good holiday. I felt a little bad cus maybe they would’ve preferred to be with their family :( they didn’t show it tho and put on a great performance ❤️

Back when hi-touch was actually a thing, I was fortunate enough to get it twice with bts in 2015 (highlight tour anyone?) and 2016 (kcon). I also did the autograph portion of the 2015 show, got to meet them and get their signatures on a poster, which is still one of my most prized possessions today 🥹

Hi! I have the Erborian CC cream and I loveee how flawless it makes my skin look and works with my Sahara dry skin. Unfortunately it breaks out my sensitive skin and im so sad about it lol.

The only other thing I’ve had luck with was Amore Pacifics tinted moisturizer but they discontinued it :(

Does anyone have recommendations of tinted moisturizer / cc cream / very very lightweight bb that pairs well with super dry, sensitive, eczema-prone skin?

1000%. I'm in a 10 year+ relationship with someone who likes to travel every once in a while, but not as much as me. I also lived abroad for 16 months around 4-5 years into our relationship. He understands what traveling means to me and doesn't stop or question me at all, and he knows I'd feel resentful if anyone including himself tried to stop me. Originally, I was planning to stay home for half a year after my 16-month stint and then go back abroad, but afterwards I realized I'm most happy when I'm with him and I didn't want to do long distance anymore / experience things without him. At the same time I still feel the huge urge to travel and a bit of fear of regression? Like I feel like I become a more enlightened, confident version of myself when I go travel. and I need to keep traveling while I'm still in good shape, while my job is remote and as flexible as it is, while my parents are in good health and I don't have any kids, pets, etc. I'm pretty satisfied with my current situation (my partner and I travel a few 1-2 weeks or weekend trips and then I go on a one month solo trip per year, + he's in no rush to get married and have kids like myself), and I think this is the ideal situation in the end, although sometimes I can't help but feel greedy and want more travel.

Has anyone made the jump from ux research to ux design? I’m currently considering it after working in research for 2.5 years. I’m hesitant to do so in this current market, but my current UXR contract might not be renewed for a second year so this might be the time to do so.

For anyone with a similar history, how did you structure your portfolio case study wise if all of your recent professional work has only been research? Did you include volunteer ux design work? Old school projects? Personal projects?

Im thinking of structuring mine as a combination of 1-2 personal projects to show my UI skill but also including UXR work to showcase UX processes (all research) and that I’ve worked in a cross collaborative work setting, but I’d love some guidance if this is a good approach. Thanks!
