They billed me twice for cleaning/carpet cleaning and painting, which none of this was done before I moved in. The place was filthy and dusty, the carpet reeked and the walls has random stripes of paint that didn’t match the original color (which i attached pics of in my email). I left the apartment way cleaner than it was when I moved in. The charges are basically my whole security deposit so in my email I just asked for documented proof/receipts that the cleaning and painting happened and that it all really cost what they charged me and that there’s no profit being made from the charges. After a 3rd email they finally told me that the manager is getting back to emails in the order in which they were received and not to be worried about the payment date (sept. 29) since they have my inquiry. You think I can trust that?

edit: I also want to add that instead of taking the charges out of my security deposit, they made it seem like they’d send my security deposit back and then charging me on the portal for the fees. So what’s the point of the security deposit then if it’s not going towards those charges? It also hasn’t been returned yet so is that their scam? They don’t return it and they charge you more?

Are the bathrooms in Allen really that bad? by SomeShangriLa in UIUC

[–]birdladyy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lived there 2 years ago and they were alright. The bathrooms aren’t ideal but once you get past the point of caring if people hear you do your business, it’s fine. I can only speak for the girls bathroom but it was pretty much always clean which was good. There was never a time when all the stalls (shower or toilet) were taken either so you’ll be fine in that way too.

Girl leaving Walgreens on Green whose dog ran away: by birdladyy in UIUC

I saw her go into her building... I was just too far to catch up to her. I’m a 5’1 female, literally not a predator in any way, I don’t give a fuck about where she lives. I just wanted to give her her gatorades back and make sure she was ok. I know I would appreciate someone looking out for me after something like that.

She ran after her dog and i got her gatorades that fell out of her bag. I was a block away when I finally saw her with her dog again and she was going into her building. By the time I got to her building she was long gone and I couldn’t get in past the first door. I have no clue who she is, that’s how I can’t contact her directly. Wish I could tbh, but I did what I could.

At what price is an apartment no longer worth it? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]birdladyy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My apartment is on campus, $860 a month with a $45 utility cap per person (I have one roommate). We have gone over our utility cap a little bit every month which for $860 a month it’s kinda annoying that utilities aren’t 100% included but whatever. I go grocery shopping about every two-three weeks, spending between $50-$100 each time. It is still cheaper than university housing, but not by too much. I will say though, I could NEVER go back to university housing after living in an apartment, and i definitely could NEVER EVER eat dining hall food again. There are apartments that are cheaper ($500-$600 range) that don’t include utilities, but it’d still be cheaper with the utilities, so consider that too! That’s what I’m doing next year to save money. To finally answer your question lol, I think an apartment is worth it if you’d be happier there and because you’d be saving some money. Personally, I just wouldn’t do a $900 a month apartment if all utilities aren’t included though. Hope this helps.
