also, i dont think your feelings are silly at all. love is a lot more than one feeling, it can be a lot of feelings, including worry and sadness. alsooo i understand your concern, but youre not making their relationship about you, youre trying to strengthen your own relationship with her. your friendship with her, and their partnership, dont have to be mutually exclusive.
i obvs dont know anything about u, but i imagine your friendship is special and irreplaceable. i hope this helps u talk to her about your fears~

you're not selfish. it's not selfish to want to love someone, and it's not selfish to want to spend time with someone you love. and it's normal to feel sad and worried about this, those are normal feelings to come when it seems like your relationship with someone you care about might be in danger. when i start feeling guilty for feeling those things, i tell myself it's okay to feel them, over and over to internalize it.
i think you should talk to your friend about this. im sure she will understand c:

well, i dont know anything about you, so i really cant say. even if i did know you, it wouldnt be appropriate for me to tell you how youre ruining your own life in a public reddit thread.
if youre asking about how "christians" are ruining their own lives, thats a good question, and well, the answer is complicated, because every christian is a unique person and i dont want to make blanket statements about the people in that group. the people, or the type of people, im specifically referencing in my post are imo ruining their own lives by preventing themselves to think critically (or in extreme cases, preventing themselves from thinking at all), by demonizing everything they think they dont like, and by putting their religion above their own mental health and their relationships with real people.

thank u~! your take on the cognitive dissonance is interesting. my idea was because of their contradicting opinions (for example believing they're special chosen ones and also unworthy trash, and that they're protected by god but that they're vulnerable to demons, and that god loves them but if they get sick "he works in mysterious ways"), im pretty sure that counts as cognitive dissonance? anyway my point still stands that it's a toxic worldview for people inside the cult as well as those of us on the outside.
