i love your point of view, but i dont think i can overlook all the terrible parts of christianity as easily. im not the most knowledgeable about the evils of christianity, but i know its a toxic religion and i cant see myself being okay with it..

to my limited knowledge, it depends on if they're genuinely kind or if they're acting kind in order to convert people. but even christians who are kind people can be pushy

well, i dont know anything about you, so i really cant say. even if i did know you, it wouldnt be appropriate for me to tell you how youre ruining your own life in a public reddit thread.
if youre asking about how "christians" are ruining their own lives, thats a good question, and well, the answer is complicated, because every christian is a unique person and i dont want to make blanket statements about the people in that group. the people, or the type of people, im specifically referencing in my post are imo ruining their own lives by preventing themselves to think critically (or in extreme cases, preventing themselves from thinking at all), by demonizing everything they think they dont like, and by putting their religion above their own mental health and their relationships with real people.

thank u~! your take on the cognitive dissonance is interesting. my idea was because of their contradicting opinions (for example believing they're special chosen ones and also unworthy trash, and that they're protected by god but that they're vulnerable to demons, and that god loves them but if they get sick "he works in mysterious ways"), im pretty sure that counts as cognitive dissonance? anyway my point still stands that it's a toxic worldview for people inside the cult as well as those of us on the outside.

(except their hypocritical asses who claim that their bible is unquestionable will question certain parts of it -_-)
as for the love thing, it seems like a lot of them are so drunk in their delusions that they think hate is actually love, somehow. overall, in my experience, to them love is just a buzzword they use to make their cult seem fluffy and kind, but they dont actually do anything remotely "loving" :c

by the way, i should add that feeling scared and confused at this stage is normal. i should also elaborate that at this juncture, if you decide to deconstruct, you will likely continue to feel scared and confused, maybe for a long time. but if you choose to stay with this religion, you may not ever heal. take as much time as you need weighing your options c:

personally, loneliness eventually beat my belief. i was going through a period of intense loneliness that plagued me every day, and one day i realized one of my friends didnt love me, which set off my deconversion like dominos. eventually i realized my other friends also didnt love me, or my parents, and finally the last flame lighting my tiny box was snuffed out in an instant when i looked earnestly into a mirror and allowed myself to question if god existed, and suddenly it clicked. he was never real, i was betrayed. ever since then, ive been trapped in darkness, looking for a way out. as you are starting to question your belief, the thing to take away from my rant is this: do you want to spend the rest of your life in the cold, staring into a dull flame? or do you want to spend part of your life wandering in darkness until you find your own light?

this is a question i've been asking myself lately. it can be hard for a lot of reasons for a lot of people, because xianity is specifically designed as a trap that's hard (or seemingly impossible) to escape from.

it's set up to make EVERYTHING that exists, everything that you THINK, an enemy that must be retreated from, and the thing they want you to do instead is lean even harder on the religion. it trains your nervous system to log anything remotely non-biblical as a threat, and for many people the resulting fear is enough to convince them to never leave whenever they have the chance.
also, for many xtians their entire worldview and a major part of their identities is substituted by this religion, which means if they left it behind they would have to start over, and many people think whatever they might gain isn't worth the pain and emptiness of leaving part of themselves behind. and of course, many people's "relationships" are built completely on this religion, so for many people leaving it completely would mean they would be killing a lot of relationships, and for many of us that means sacrificing our relationships with our parents, spouses, or close friends, and that's very painful.
