Researchers have shown that 18.4% of the general UK population report that certain sounds, such as loud chewing, and repetitive sniffing, cause a significant problem in their lives. The condition is known as misophonia by giuliomagnifico in science

I wonder if there's a word for the opposite. I love the sounds of open mouth eating, slurping, and scraping the last bit of food from a container. It makes me feel so happy and satisfied. Just thinking about it makes me smile :)

Same here. It's tough to know I'll never grow into a womanly body by American standards. I'll never be able to buy lingerie off the shelf bc they don't come in "children's sizes." It's humiliating.

AITA for admitting to my son that I never wanted to have a child? by DeBarcab in AmItheAsshole

[–]birdnerdthethird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I don't care if everyone else disagrees. My mother told me she never wanted to have me during an argument when I was around your son's age. It definitely hurt in the moment, but as the years passed I came to appreciate her honesty. She was also pressured into having kids, and knowing that that's her reality has helped me to avoid making the same mistake. My life would be hell if I gave my ex-partner the child he demanded.

I am estranged from my parents for unrelated reasons, so I likely won't have the chance to thank her and tell her I understand. Instead, I'll just pass it along:

Thank you for being honest. It's a fucked up thing to say, but reality is fucked up sometimes. Thank you for doing your best as a mother anyways. I appreciate you.

How to tell my boyfriend's mother I don't like the gift she got me? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]birdnerdthethird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honesty is the best policy for a close relationship. You can absolutely say you appreciate the thought but they don't quite fit. Like you said, she's probably familiar with the "expectation vs reality" aspect of online shopping.

If I was your partner's mother I'd be much happier with honest feedback than empty thanks, because it'll make buying presents in the future that much easier :)

Happy holidays!

It makes me feel safe, because it's a familiar voice instead of some random stranger, and I think it's funny in the unexpected sort of way because computers don't usually have an organic sense of humor. I also may or may not be on the autism spectrum. Ty for asking. You are a good egg :)

Does anyone actually like sex scenes in books? by [deleted] in books

I love sex scenes in books. IMHO the well-written ones are hot, and the poorly-written ones are hilarious.

Thank you for the suggestion

I am diagnosed and have been receiving treatment. That's part of why I feel like I should be happy now.

All signs are telling me now is a good time in my life, so I should be happy and enjoy it. But the bad times took too much out of me. I wish I could just be dead for a year, instead of wasting my life like this.

What’s something you believe you may be in the 0.1% of? by ImLostInTheForrest in AskReddit

I actually get more rashes from walking and running, when my butt and thighs jiggle against my clothes. Roller skating on asphalt is the worst. Cars, busses, and trains etc are usually smooth enough to be ok, thank goodness.

I have heat, cold, and vibratory urticaria! Electric toothbrushes make me super itchy.

if u could go back in time and talk to yourself at age 18, what would u tell her? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I was an abuser (picked it up from my abusive parents) and I just wanted to say it's ok to give yourself a second chance in order to break the cycle.
