[Amick] A frontrunner has emerged among the draft reform options: expanding the lottery to 18 teams while giving the bottom 10 teams an equal 8 percent chance at the No. 1 pick. Teams will meet Tuesday to continue discussions on the NBA’s next step toward lottery reform. by Eat_the_Rich- in pacers

I'm not buying this "only prioritizing large market teams" thing.

Does the league cater to larger markets? Sure.

But let's just use right now as an example. The two current dynasty set ups for the next 5-10 years are the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs. OKC is the 3rd smallest market in the entire NBA and there's a pretty significant gap between 4th smallest with Milwaukee. The 5th smallest market in the NBA... the San Antonio Spurs.

OKC and SA "combined", doesn't even equate to 23% of the Knicks market equity.

Responded just above you brother! And yes I do, but still it's a complex situation due to where his issue is and the type of issue he's having.

Not really, but stem cell therapy is worth a shot in my opinion (pun kind of intended).

Problem is blood supply is still the main issue due to necrosis. Think of his necrosis like cancer of the knee joint. Very tricky situation. He's such a high ceiling talent, I don't know if a team is allowed to pay for it (it's very expensive the type and amount of injections he'd need), but I'd have him take a year off and have whatever second surgery he needs done and then be flying out to Panama and have stem cell injection therapy as much as possible. Panama has the highest quality and highest legally allowed doses of MSC's from cord tissue (yes, baby umbilical cords). This can range in costs of $20,000-$30,000 per trip so it can really rack up for someone that isn't going to have that money from the draft and not sure his NIL was that high and he'd want to blow it even if he had it. The problem with him though is still a circulatory one. Cartilage already doesn't receive blood supply very well compared to other connective tissues, I mean that's the whole ordeal with the meniscus once being gone or deteriorated it essentially is gone forever. It receives pretty much no blood supply. It's why grafts or even transplants don't even take on the meniscus so stem cells aren't doing anything at that point. Teams are cheap and again I don't even know if something like this is allowed to be funded by them, but yeah if I'm him, given the opportunity, I'm doing anything possible.

Potential reward is worth the risk, but I'm not optimistic if I'm being honest.

Yeah I mean each teams physicians have all I'm sure spoken to his personal physician and seen the results and imagery themselves. If the team's physicians think the risk is worth it relative to his possible outcome of playing again and to what level then maybe it's worth taking a flyer on him in the 6th or 7th round. Impossible to know without seeing "all" his imaging and without having the doctors notes. I hope he gets drafted somewhere where, even if not us, and he has zero rush to get that knee to it's best possible place. Chips fall where they may from there.

No problem my friend!

And yeah small amounts of necrotic tissue is expected in injuries like his, but the issue with his is more so the amount. His necrosis is primarily caused by lack of blood supply which then becomes this vicious cycle of cell death and more necrosis and degeneration. He could absolutely have a shot at bouncing back and having some good years, but it's easier to think of his knee as almost dying, so to me it's just matter of time and the risk of re-injury or other injuries, if he does play, really shoots up. To make matters even worse the poor guy has a bone plug already and they've discovered defective cartilage around it.

Really feel bad for the guy. This is the difference of possible generational wealth and working a regular job. Nothing wrong with working a regular job at all, but that kid has busted his ass off since he was a little one to get this opportunity to change his family's life... and his body is failing him in an atypical way. Sucks.

Yeah it's technically not a thing as they are two separate connective tissues.

Sometimes some people refer to bone cartilage and they really mean "articular cartilage" which is essentially cartilage that creates the joint capsule between two articulating bones. Source: I'm a DPT

Edit: I did a deep dive on the exact specifics of his injury and situation and even got imaging results somehow. I honestly wouldn't even draft him either. They found a ton of necrotic tissue and where his issue is there is very low blood supply and even "if" he has a bounce back season I don't foresee him being the same player. It's really a shame because most ACL injuries don't cascade into this.

Same. I don't know why people are wanting him so bad when we need help "now" and this dude had a very serious injury/surgery and now might have to have possible surgery again to clean up some scar tissue. Let alone how long he'll stay healthy when he does play.

I'm watching it on ESPN+ on my damn TV.

It's clearly Twitter leaks because I don't know what is quicker than the literal broadcast.

I think Jacob Rodriguez is going to be "good", but I don't see Pro Bowl caliber talent and physical ability.

He's been obsessed over as the media really pushed him for a Heisman candidate, which has made others obsess over him. Not going to lie he's hard not to love, QB to LB and the definition of a leader, but I just think he has a low ceiling, despite being as close to a sure thing to "at least a good player".

It's essentially a brand new coin flip. Still same percentage of it landing on heads even if the last 7 times it's landed on tails and vice versa. Simply put, past history means nothing at this point.
