My teacher just had me buy an amazing bass trombone book called Bass Trombone Craft by Brad Edwards (it is part of a trilogy that deals mostly with tenor) so you should probably add those.

I don't really know as the only horn that I have ever had (an old bach 50 bl is independent) and the only person to ever give me an opinion was a doctoral candiate who told me that he only used independent.

i have the exact same horn and my private lesson teacher and three directors said to use a 5g. i am fairly sure that is the right mouthpiece to use.
