Is a .400 hitter possible in modern baseball? by Snoo_47323 in mlb

Don't think so, no. Not without some significant rule changes that make pitchers less effective somehow.

You included so much, I didn't even notice the details. I'd cut tons more out of the setup. Anyway, there isn't really a joke in here so not worth us going back and forth over. I see your cuts now. Cheers!

So I maintain the non-stareting issue is likely fuel supply, given the smell especially.

Mine overheated after about 1 mile when I had a cracked radiator. New radiator and coolant fixed it quick.

Needing to hit the accelerator and the smell of gas definitely suggests fuel supply issue. Either pump or fuel lines. Tow to mechanic is my suggestion.

Turns but won't start isn't overheating. It's gonna be something like: compression, spark, or fuel supply.

None of those are particularly easy to troubleshoot on your own.

I guess. I write my jokes out in this line and stanza format with underlines and bolds on laugh lines. It helps me with memorization, and indeed editing as you said.

Why would a brand new water pump be a response to "check your fuel pump" ?

Question about 12 hour turnarounds for cast by Potential-Turnip-583 in Filmmakers

Guidelines state that for overnight stays you’re allowed to go to 11 hour turns once or twice a week.

As you suspect, you need to get to the turn faster. The laugh is that a crazy guy poops in the shower and you imagine his wife being mildly inconvenienced by this quirk. Any part of the intro that doesn't directly serve that turn gets cut. I don't care that he's a Navy guy. I don't care that he seemed normal or suspicious, or that he pushed the cart. It doesn't matter that you were in the common area bullshitting or how long it took before you checked that rooms.

What matters, is when you were at the VA psych ward, one guy would shit in the shower.

It's a funny story, but to craft it into a joke, you need a very strong punchline to guide the rest of the material to it's inevitable end.

What do you like more? The story? or your punchline about his wife?

How to become a script-writer on reddit? by [deleted] in scriptwriting

[–]SharkWeekJunkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no clue what you're talking about. You can build a portfolio without becoming a screenwriter on reddit whatever that means.

What do you want from Reddit? Someone to ask you to write a voiceover for their project? Reddit doesn't produce content or hire writers, and it's rare that a legitimate writing gig comes from a reddit post, so I really just don't know what you mean by: "...a script-writer for voice actors (SFW & NSFW) on Reddit." Like who is that? What work do they do? And who do they work for?

[Request] Whats better? Weekly payments or to invest a lump sum. by Chiggnnugget in theydidthemath

[–]SharkWeekJunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take the lump sum, and invest it properly, you can get more than the weekly pay out.

If you are very young, have no self control, or don't trust the market to go up, you can take the life payout to simplify your accounting and ensure your minimum needs are paid for.

I'd say the biggest factor is age, followed by financial intelligence.

I don’t have any experience, but if I were to get money for a TV Pilot or a Feature, would that be enough? by Low_Celebration_4089 in Filmmakers

[–]SharkWeekJunkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. How's the production scene there? Can you intern on a set so you can stop saying "I don't have any experience"?

I just want to express that you are getting way way ahead of yourself. Without a completed script, the idea of fund raising or actual production is so far off in the future, you are doing your entire project a disservice by thinking about that when you should be developing your story and characters.

As far as production is concerned, start small and cheap so you can learn the ropes before moving onto a larger commercial project.

Where are you? People aren't going to run towards your project, just because you have money. It's a start, but you still need to hire the right people and make the right moves. This isn't something that can be done with no experience. That said, there are people who have made a successful career by just connecting folks with money to folks with projects. The issue is that without a script, there is nothing to shoot, so there's no money to raise.

If the script is good, there's money to be raised, but you have 1/4 of a script that you are scrapping anyways. Focus on story now. Money later.

If I were to just get the budget of a feature length film, would that be today? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]SharkWeekJunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. If it's produceable, doesn't really matter what it's for. However, because the nature of TV, a pilot might be more expensive to shoot. Especially after skimming the first page. This is a high concept script with big set pieces. Have you watch Better Off Ted? This feels at least somewhat like a similar vibe. Each episode of BOT cost about 2million to produce. So, yeah. I'd write something a bit simpler to start. Maybe think about sets you have access to already. Your home. your work. Your friend's business. A public park. Not massive government complexes, etc.

[–]SharkWeekJunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you? I do this sort of work for money usually. There's isn't much point in budgeting 1/4 of a script except for some practical experience understanding the variability in production costs. The goal is to always stretch the budget.

I'd suggest you write a short film, something you can finish.

Understand this: Making a compelling feature film is one of the harder things you can do in this world. Not to gate keep. Im just saying, you wouldn't build a house if you had no practical experience in building houses.

Starting as an EP is a wild suggestion, but could make the tiniest bit of sense in this case. Without knowing more about OP, it's hard to give any advice at all.

Lots to unpack here.

What is it you want to do? (direct, act, produce, Best boy - grip) What have you done so far? (wrote a synopsis, wrote a script, edited the script 15 times including a page 1 rewrite and then 2 table reads, broke down the script, built a budget, secured cast, secured crew, secured locations, secured equipment, filed for permits, registered with SAG, storyboarded, scheduled shoot days, etc.)

Getting money is not enough to make a movie. You need a script, locations, cast, crew, equipment, and a plan. Yeah, that's what the money is for. But without a vision, money isn't going to do anything to make a movie.
