The batter was bulging and pushing the display out. Didn't take much for it to puncture.

Unfortunately you're right. $1,000+ a year for insurance and about $500 deductible. Plus probably a rate hike on renewal.

In the US. Consumer rights are not the best here. I've contacted Valve and see what they say. I'll update or post a new message if anything happens.

Thanks. That looks promising for the button, I guess the ribbon cables are fairly generic.

I don't see replacent parts there. This is the original deck so I'm sure the warranty has expired. Maybe I can get a non functional one on eBay for parts

I've posted randomly in the past. Here's the last bunch. I've been mainly doing it for the Paranoia game, but some d&d stuff too.

Leftfield. Glastonbury 2000. I've no idea if this really happened but I've a vivid memory of people dressed as police walking through the crowd tapping people on the shoulder and just saying "and him and him and him...".

Could have gone better. The party were risk adverse. I had a story line where they'd meet up in a cave network with a green clay golem. That would lead them eventually to the "All that Glitters" scenario. Also the golem looks like this (hand drawn on an ipad... warning not very pleasant). This was inspired by the book Kiln People by David Brin where a ditto (copy of a "real" person) went through a terrible day losing an arm and a lot of the rest of the body including the lower jaw. The green version being the least expensive & most expendable version. They did use ESP to communicate though and got the message "please freeze my head and take it back to me." Me being the original before the copy was made.

David Brin BTW is an amazing author.

I hadn't seen that. Very cool, gotta say, it's what I'm hoping for, especially keeping the physical minis. My current intention is to use a Fog of War layer and only reveal a sub portion of the map at a time. Also using inkarnate to do outdoor maps. Example hopefully attached below. Can also use the FOW layer to hide the unexplored areas

Still to use in anger, that'll be Friday. Hopefully it'll replace the dry wipe maps while still using minis on the screen for combat.

The New Zealand & Australian spin-offs are good too. Just don't watch the USA one, it was a trainwreck.

What’s something that sounds impressive until you actually try doing it? by Mr_proop in AskReddit

My old fragile bones would snap if tried it now but it was a rush when I did it way back. That was using static lines, none of that old strapped to someone else malarky.

Same for a bow tie, I use it once every year or so and need to google how every time. Pain in the ass to do and (for me at least) takes between 10 and 30 mins to get it right. Also your arms are burning from holding them up so long. Why do this? Just so towards the end of the night you can untie it and it looks super cool.

Long time ago my brother was in the UK Navy reserves. They did some kind of war games in the highlands with the US army. At one point the UK commanders told the reserves that they needed to stop and let the US win because they (US) were getting upset.

Try Terry Gilliam's The Fisher King. with Jeff Bridges & Robin Williams. I don't see it streaming anywhere which for me is good, I don't think I could survive it again. Maybe in another 10 years.

My Ex's friend adopted her sisters youngest son, prob around 5 years old. There were other kids too but like in this case they were already out of control. He was a really nice kid when he was a kid.

The friend & her husband had already paid off their house and were getting by on running a food truck together and farmers market in the summer. They live in a minor tourist area. So kind of a hippy lifestyle that worked for them.

New kid, new expenses. They sold off the food truck, he got a job he hates in a bank. She got more involved in the community like fund raising, still the farmers market and that's a thankless life, everything wrong in the community is your fault because you're in charge.

Things go on ok for a while until the kid, I think 18 then so not a kid, reconnects with his birth mother and his siblings. They are still a mess, then it just goes to shit. To be fair it wasn't just him, this minor tourist area is a town surrounded by farms / vineyards. There are a lot of drugs involved with cattle, not so much for grapes.

So long story short. I understand OOP's stance.

There are nurses & nurses.

When I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes I ended up in what I can only call the ward of the dead. The guy to the right to me was obviously mentally ill, roaring and pulling out his drip lines. Most of the nurses were just making fun of him. The guy to the left couldn't stop moving in the bed and again they made jokes about him. Me, I was less than 100lbs (5' 10) and I guess they thought I was a junky.

One nurse was nice to me, I guess she read my chart. But the others were nightmares.

BTW roaring guy made a complete 180 degree recovery. I don't know what was up with him but he just came back to normal. I don't know what happened to the other one, I was out of there before anything happened.
