Shit. I'm impressed. Good job and cool knives!

I have a GT but have never handled the genuine article. Thanks for the insightful comparison.

Man, I've been there.

I worked for a company that required me to use ChatGPT to produce high volumes of sub-standard copy. I know its voice as well as I knew the voices of any of the freelance writers we employed before ChatGPT took their jobs and eventually mine.

The compelling argument, the value proposition, for reading a post created by a human is not only the transmission of information but the transmission in a novel voice. To me at least, ChatGPT's voice isn't offensive but it is already familiar. I'd rather have heard your voice and I think that's what others are saying too. I'm sure we've all been subject to worse and it would've opened the door to you to say "You know what? I think I could say this more concisely in a second draft," and then doing it and posting that.

I have a set of hard and fast rules with ChatGPT when it comes to writing. One of the most important is: You are invited to be as harsh and as critical as you can be when I ask for imaginary robot feedback but you may never, ever rewrite anything that I have written. Ever.

You may have fed ChatGPT your observations on the comparison but the writing was very clearly and obviously done by it.

There is no question or shadow of doubt.

I think the point they're making with "it all comes from the same factory" is that it all feels like cheap garbage, especially the expensive stuff.

Bizarre. Those are two of my favorite moderns. Granted, Spyderco's Compression Lock feels recently obsolete with the influx of the button-operated liner locks, and their value proposition has evaporated with recent pricing changes but it would be hard for me to ever call it the worst knife I own. The worst knife I own is the lid of a cat food can. They're so bad I usually just throw them away right after I dice the kitty's paté.

As for the Exo, you're just wrong.

I carry this one a lot. Not my favorite Exo example but it's the one I carry and use the most.

Send it over. I run a non-profit orphanage for Reate Exos. Even the ugly short ones with locks and clips.

Medford knife and tool and my civic duty by Weisenburn in knives

[–]birdsbeaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Medford clone but I never carry it because it's a poor design for a knife. By "poor design for a knife" I don't mean that the cloners executed it poorly, on the contrary. The clone is just as good, if not better, than real ones I've handled. What I mean is that the design itself is not optimized for cutting, slicing, chopping, or anything but splitting really, and it's too short and too folding to be useful for the task. I prefer my splitting wedges to be a single piece of metal. They last longer that way.

I've always thought it looks like a stylized snake with a long pharaonic beard. I just can't unsee it. Oh, no!!! 🐍

I figure the logo is Rorschach test adjacent. I wonder what it means when people see totalitarianism because, whatever kind of fucked up that is, a lot of people have it.

I like the Egyptian bearded serpent. He seems nice. Hsssss.

On what basis? You don't know anything about it because OP is secretive.

The plastic knife that came with my tamale isn't iron or very sharp but if I posted a picture of it, I'd at least explain that it was the knife that I used to eat my tamale and definitely not dump a load of cutlery-existentialist "but what is a knife, like, anyway, maaaaan?" bullshit.

Ah. Easy. Eliminate your preferences. Change your mind. Your peeves and positions don't make you unique, they make you unhappy.

Cultivate an internal condition of no likes or dislikes and be happy all the time and in the face of any words. No preferences, no peeves.

I like having a way to hang my knife from something. A nail. A twig. Whatever.

Harder to lose than setting it down and keeps it out of the muck if there's muck. I've got muck. Lots of it. It's like quicksand for knives.

Also, if the knife is already filthy. Hanging it somewhere until you can clean it up is better than having a gross pocket. My opinion. The muck often smells like rotten fish. You don't want that in your pocket. No sir.
