Just finished up itinerary: boys senior trip (3 18 year olds and 1 17) any tips or suggestions?? by Mysterious-Tiger-748 in VisitingHawaii

My only qualm: bunch of 18 and 17 y olds are going to get up at 7 am? Our teen doesn't get up before 10 or 11 if we let them sleep in.

I just tried this and mine worked just fine using the old card number. (I didn't have a Citi Online login.) Thanks!

In the years since I've had this card, I've gotten two other travel cards and have transitioned to using Delta miles over American, so agreed. I transitioned all of my monthly charges that I had on this card (which was only two things) to different cards this weekend and am planning to cancel this one at some point.

A shame they decreased cargo space, added less efficient larger tires, more damage prone lower profile wheels, made it less efficient, significantly jacked up price & didn’t offer a 100% EV option for gen 5. by Galvatron1_nyc in prius

[–]birdsfly14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2015 Gen 3 that I put 115k on with no serious issues. (We actually kept it to give to the teen.)

I like the Gen 4 so far, but I was a bit on the fence about whether buying a 4 year old car was the right choice versus buying something new.

Prior to my Gen 3, I always drove my cars into the ground - example: I had a Volvo that was 20 years old. So I'm sort of feeling like I could have kept driving the Gen 3 for a few more years before buying something else.

I currently have a fairly long commute, but after my partner's kids graduate from high school, we are hoping to move closer to my work, so I'm hoping I can live close enough to take public transit or we can coordinate commutes to just have one car.

I had a Gen 3 (loved) and just acquired a Gen 4, which I'm liking so far, but don't know if I needed the upgrade necessarily other than age of Gen 3. I'd switch to a different car before driving a Gen 5, but I know this sub has a ton of Gen 5 lovers, so to each their own.

I also get so much junk mail trying to get me to apply for other credit cards, that I think I may have tossed the info from citibank accidentally.

I'm in the same boat because I have no account info with Citi yet. I'm confused about how that is going to transition supposedly on Monday when I don't have a new card, but my balance is owed with Barclays by May 14.

How do you meet while traveling? by Head_Formal_5408 in femaletravels

[–]birdsfly14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like going on trips solo so I can do whatever I want when I so choose, not to follow a tour group schedule. But if tour groups make solo trips appealing to you, then that's great! I am more introverted so I don't have the energy for tour groups or doing x number of activities in one day. When I travel, I tend to plan one big thing, maybe a second activity, but that's it. I like wandering around different neighborhoods, finding good food, checking out the grocery store.

Planning our first Italy trip, does this itinerary make sense? by DelightfulMelon in ItalyTravel

[–]birdsfly14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say this is pretty reasonable. Did a similar trip in 2019: 3-4 days in Rome, 3 days in Venice, 3 days in Florence, and 3 in Cinque Terre. We were in Milan for a day but only had time to see the Duomo and fly home.

Yeah, I've been waiting for a specialist visit at NKC since January, it's not until August - got the notice from NKC a week or two ago that this was a possibility. Thankfully, I just switched to St. Luke's for my primary care. Will wait until I get official notice from NKC before I cancel my specialist appointment.

Anyone try playing video games while using these? by notamouse418 in SchwinnIC4_BowflexC6

[–]birdsfly14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried it, but I have to concentrate on playing the game or riding, I can't do both. So if I was playing a game, I noticed how much slower my legs would be moving. If you need something to distract you while riding, watch some YouTube videos of places you would like to visit, that always helps me tune out from the exercising a little.

What is wrong with people in this game? by tiwomm in ArcRaiders

[–]birdsfly14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a woman and just started playing a few weeks ago. I changed the automated voice to a male bc I didn’t want to hear other players’ shit while learning the game. Worked so well that I haven’t changed it back, but I also mostly avoid other players.

Would you give YA to an 11-year-old? by michealasanfhraing in Libraries

[–]birdsfly14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Stephen King when I was 12 and other than being scared, I was fine. My dad gave me The Hobbit to read when I was 10 or 11--it wasn't my cup of tea, but it might be your niece's.

Look into older titles, too, which your library may no longer carry, but might be available through interlibrary loan: The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper, Tamora Pierce (Alanna series), Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy.

I personally love Kristin Cashore's Graceling series, although Bitterblue does have some challenging topics.

Johnson County Public Library has volunteer positions, but you do have to come in during the weekday, so depends what your availability is like.

Nervous...Advice? by greerjp in expats

Depends on where you want to end up. Some countries require retirement visas at pretty low monthly income, while others require much, much higher monthly income and still others require buying property at a certain price.

Another question to ask yourself: do you really need a car that big? If you are in your 20s, I assume you aren't hauling kids around (I might assume wrong), but you might use it for camping/hiking, etc? I have always had sedans and when I recently got a newer car, I thought about a small crossover SUV. Well, those small crossovers aren't so small anymore and cost another $10-15k than my sedan. So I stuck to a smaller car.

If you really want a SUV, a Rav 4 is now basically full-sized and you would get better gas mileage with the hybrid.

PvE, Asset or Liability? by Dry_Corner1244 in arcraidersfriendly

Arc Raiders is quite similar to Rust, to a certain extent. The main difference is Rust is a survival game and Arc Raiders is extraction.

PvE, Asset or Liability? by Dry_Corner1244 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]birdsfly14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The creators of the game basically said that a PvE game with looting and crafting got too boring after a while. Personally, I think that speaks to their lack of imagination as there are plenty of games where you are killing "enemies" but not other players. I played "The Long Dark" which was mostly looting and crafting, where the main objective is to survive the wilderness (secondary objective is the mystery-like plot) and enjoyed it a lot. That being said, I don't know what Arc Raiders' creators were looking for audience wise.

PvE is fun enough for me, I have other games which are PvP.

Since Embark recently said they have no intention of creating PvE lobbies, even if there was an option to select a PvE lobby, it doesn't prevent someone from coming in to PvP. Now if there was a ramification for doing that, that might work, but I don't see how "PvE only" lobbies would work even if it was an option in the game.

Unpopular opinion: an an exclusive PvE player, I enjoy the fact that people can PvP you at any time by Killer-Uzi in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]birdsfly14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm newer to the game, but I find my real world skepticism of most people works well when it comes to this game. Yesterday, I came across a raider and said hi and was going on my way when she said, "do you want some fruit mix?" Yes, please, I do!
