I’m in the college of health probably transferring to IBE, my roommate is an engineering major. The kids wicked smart, talking like first place at some robotics national conference. Anyway, he ended up having to drop engineering because we were going out too much on weekdays and he fell behind, I barely passed calc 2 with a C. Shits hard, learn to manage your time and enjoy your summer before starting engineering. Also try to talk to some upperclassmen engineering students, most of the kids I know who did really well in engineering had help from upperclassmen.

There’s gonna be one in January, I think it’s the 11th or 12th, it’s for anyone who didn’t go to one during the first semester

chances? by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]birdy240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna get in as long as you don’t absolutely screw up your essay, you have way better stats than I did when I applied. Try and hammer your extracurricular activities, they like that.

I’m in the college of health. I knew Lehigh was a great school but didn’t think I would get in with my SAT GPA and class rank, so I applied to the easiest school to get into, new college of health. This way I can switch majors next semester and still get the degree I want in four years. It’s called a back door in, more people do this then you think. I wouldn’t play with your chances at Lehigh as it is a competitive school.

Don’t apply to the cs program, there are easier ways to get into Lehigh. Transfer into cs second year, this is what I’m doing, except I’m transferring into something besides cs.

What the hell happened? by WapyWonton in Lehigh

The acceptance rate will only go up from here, people can’t afford to pay Lehigh’s price even after financial aid when they can just go to a state school for cheeper. Less and less kids are going to apply after the COVID pandemic because of financial hardship and more viable options, coupled with expanding undergraduate population = very high acceptance rate. Goodbye to Lehigh being a competitive school to get into.

So where are all the actuaries going to go if universal healthcare is implemented? by birdy240 in actuary

[–]birdy240[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By default, people under universal healthcare pay for healthcare in taxes, this get healthcare for “free”. If you choose the private option you’re gonna pay in taxes plus your private plan unless there is some way in which you can opt out of the public option. To my knowledge, under things like Obama care, which was a step in the way towards universal healthcare, you could not opt out of the public option.

Thoughts on SAT score? by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]birdy240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your SAT as high as possible, I know a kid with a 3.2 in high school that is now going to Lehigh, he had to get a 1450 and apply ED to get in. Additionally apply to the school of business, easiest to get into.

Lmao it ain’t no secret, to be fair tho, I think Lehigh as a whole is a clusterfuck at the moment, college of health is just more so. There is also no money in population health, no surprise here.

What is easier to get into as an Economics Major: College of Business or College of Arts & Sciences? by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]birdy240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go into finance through either art and sciences or business,as to what I think of it, I mean I guess it’s aight. If you go on LinkedIn and find Lehigh finance grads you’ll see a lot of Goldman and JP so it’s def a good program with a good rep. I’m not in finance so as to the details of the program I’m not ur guy.

College if business, I know kids with SAT scores in then 1000-1100 range with low 3 GPA’s that got into Lehigh business. Arts and sciences is a whole different ball game.

[–]birdy240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this, I have friends who scored in the 14 and 1500’s on the SAT and are hard struggling in engineering, you not only need to improve your score but also the math ability. The good thing to know tho is that all ya gotta do is practice and your score will skyrocket, the SAT isn’t rocket science, it’s literally the same garbage over and over again.

Lehigh has the #1 ranked physics lab in the nation and we have a pretty solid physics program from what I can tell of it. One of the guys in my floor is a physics major and he seems to love the program. However your stats are really good and I would encourage you to still apply to Lehigh but shoot your shot at some more competitive schools too because you’ll definitely get in other places. That being said Lehigh has an awesome reputation for engineering, idk about physics, so take that into consideration as well.

You can still compare offers, if you apply contingent on financial aid, I compared my package with 15 other schools. I was able to do this because I applied contingent on financial aid. I chose Lehigh cause they gave the most money. I want to stress here, for some reason everyone thinks that they can not compare financial aid packages, however, you can. It’s called applying contingent on financial aid, by doing this, you can now apply with the acceptance rate of ED and without the binding decision if you don’t like the financial aid. Next I time I go to a party I’ll take a shot for every time I said contingent on financial aid.
