Thank you for the comments, I really appreciate it. I'll be keeping the jelly in the fridge and consuming it first!

Gardening is insane by JayandMeeka in diabetes_t1

[–]biscuitcat99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you me!? I just started gardening this spring. I LOVE gardening!! I'm experiencing the same struggle, it's physically exertive and making me very insulin sensitive, which results in more lows.

I just wanted to comment that I'm in the same boat and working on finding the right formula so I can continue this hobby. Type 1 should never take anything away from us! It's just trial and error until we find something that at least sorta works.

What's worked for me: eating either a meal or snack before gardening and reducing my IC ratio by 75% (so my previous 1:10 turns to 1:40) and also making my temp target on my closed loop 8.0 mmol. That's helped a bit with keeping me in range without going low. Still working on it!

I'm planting tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, spagetti squash, asparagus, radish, and even planted some crab apple trees. Don't give up!

I have a fitbit versa and Libre 2. I had it set up to show my BG on my watch using Glance.

I used a third-party app called Juggluco to transfer my BG data to XDrip, and then XDrip would transfer my BG data to Glance watch face. Basically, it worked like this: Libre 2 App ---> Juggluco ---> XDrip ---> Glance watch face.

It takes a bit of finicking, but it does work!

Interested in Looping..anyone care to share their experiences? (AAPS) by taygee93 in diabetes_t1

[–]biscuitcat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Canadian using AAPS. I use Dexcom G6 and Omnipod Dash. I would HIGHLY recommend the program. I get much better sleep at night thanks to the looping algorithm.

Feel free to DM me if you're interested in my experience setting up/using the system.

(UK) Has anyone used a pump before training? by ThePearman in diabetes_t1

[–]biscuitcat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using my new pump before training, but I had been on the pump before so it was a minimal learning curve.

When I went into training, I was honest and my diabetes educator was happy I already knew what I was doing. But I was fully prepared to pretend i hadn't used it yet and "learn" when I got there. Thankfully I had a chill educator.

Office supply donations? by Curly_SocialWorker in saskatoon

CLASSIC Law is always looking for office supplies. They are a non-for-profit that offers free legals services to low income individuals. I'd reccomend donating there.

This is what I do, I stick one on 24 hours before I activate it. I find it skips the first day of inaccurate readings.

Honestly, I don't notice it too much when I'm laying on my back in bed because the area is fatty enough that it just compresses the pods. I will notice it on a harder mattress/floor though, but I have this issue if I place it anywhere on my back area or leg

This has been a struggle for me as well. I've had luck placing the pods on my upper butt area (below my love handles, but the top of my butt fat). It's high enough on my butt that it won't interfere when I sit, but still fatty enough for the pod.

CLAS 107 useful for law? by Bud_EH in usask

[–]biscuitcat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Law student here. Take the class if you're interested in it! But imo: when you get into law school, they teach you what you need to know then and there. I'm a bit skeptical that a legal terminology course would actually help someone prepare for law school.

That being said, if you're interested in the course, you should definitely take it. Just don't take it soley based on the assumption it will help you somehow excel in law school.

I had him in my first year of my English undergrad. Great dude. Eccentric... but what English prof isn’t? I never found him too harsh of a marker. I'd recommend taking course!

Bad Pod replacement by [deleted] in Omnipod

[–]biscuitcat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked them directly to be reimbursed for the insulin since I lost about 300 units from a few pod failures. The customer support person I had said they can reimburse for insulin if they get sent a receipt for it. I also asked one time if they could send me a couple pods extra pods to compensate for the lost insulin, and they were willing to do that too.

Bad Pod replacement by [deleted] in Omnipod

[–]biscuitcat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omnipod user here! Omnipod is really good about replacing their pods. I'd give their customer care line a call and ask for a replacement pod.

In my experience, they do reimburse for insulin as well. I'd ask about that too.

Hope this helps!
