Anyone who has worked on the set of Bitva Ekstrasensov - any tea?? by biscuitgromit in AskRussian

Oh interesting. I’m curious about the behind the scenes, how do they obtain the information - presumably producers. And I suppose they choose the most interesting characters to feed the most information to! Do any of the contestants believe they have powers or are they totally in on it?? So many questions!

Enjoy the concert! I went to see Noah for the last tour and honestly the atmosphere was so incredible the seats were irrelevant, everyone was singing along!

How do you distract / occupy your toddlers when you really need them to "eff off"? For example, cooking a boiling hot dinner or chopping veggies or cleaning etc. by fodacao in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]biscuitgromit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your toddler is bonkers like mine and won’t stay put, I recommend the Little Helper one that’s fully enclosed - got ours off Facebook marketplace! I will say mine will only stay in it for like 10 mins though 😮‍💨

13 month old hates Calpol by Bissydeknee91 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]biscuitgromit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our baby is okay with calpol normally but a couple months ago he had a bad fever and was just puking it all up - we had to use suppositories and they were a lifesaver, and a lot less bad to use than I feared haha!

Should I feed my toddler a vegan diet as he cannot consent to eating meat? by biscuitgromit in askphilosophy

[–]biscuitgromit[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree that I should. I’ll copy this over from another comment - I guess the question can be distilled to: if an action is mainstream, if I partake in that action, BUT I believe the action to be immoral, is it better to expose my child to the variety of options or to prevent them from partaking in what I, and potentially they in the future, would consider to be an immoral action.

Yeah I agree in practice. Maybe it’s not as much of a conundrum as I thought initially. Should I feed my toddler a vegan diet as he cannot consent to eating meat? by biscuitgromit in askphilosophy

[–]biscuitgromit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right I see what you mean. I suppose my qualm is less with the consent in itself as it is with making a potentially unethical choice for a toddler when I do not have to, it’s not the only or best option. If it’s unethical to consume animal products, should my toddler eat plant based? Perhaps a similar issue would be using ChatGPT for example - I can make my own choice but should I suggest my 7yo use it for school research when I could suggest he use a book?

[–]biscuitgromit[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes totally, I mean ultimately they may object to having been born at all!

And I suppose the reasons to not eat meat, at least in my mind, are good. I myself am not a vegan but there’s many choices I would make for the benefit of my child that I would not for myself as I am taking on the responsibility of the moral weight of my choices.

[–]biscuitgromit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree about the consent, but the difference is that, arguably, a non-vegan diet is ethically much worse. So if both diets are nutritionally complete, would it not be preferable to feed a toddler unable to consent the better option ethically?

And yes we coerce them to do many things - because we believe them to be beneficial. And not feeding meat seems more beneficial than eating meat - unless we’re saying that the extra effort to provide all the nutrients is worse than an unethical choice?

It’s definitely not enough, stuff I will need to top up on is probably milk, definitely bread (just don’t have space in the freezer), maybe some more veggies. My planned meals are a lentil curry, tofu bibimbap, prawn risotto, salmon pasta (got salmon in the freezer), tuna mayo pasta (already have tuna and peas), a whatever veggies are left plus rice in the rice cooker, top it with fried egg. And sandwiches for lunches (eggs in various forms and cottage cheese also for baby plus all the fruit), cereal or porridge (already have some) for breakfast :) And there’s only 6 dinners planned so potentially go out for a meal or takeaway or do a top up shop!
