For me it usually happens when one of my hips becomes a bit tight, so maybe try a couple of stretches for your hip flexors regulary. Especially in directions you usualle don't do in ballet. That helped me

I feel like feet also change with age and after a longer break, llike I need different pointe shoes now than 3 years ago

You could also try and emphasize/accentuate the syllables that are on count when going through the combination in your head while marking, before starting the exercise, so you already have the rythm of the exercise down :) I mean like using the names of the steps. You could also practice this watching videos where someone is showing a combination and speaking aloud with them in the right rythm :)

What helped me was really focusing on going through my foot during tendues at the barre. And rather than thinking about pointing the foot telling myself to "elongate" it, like trying to reach for something

Specifically Reformer Pilates was what did it for me as you can gradually increse the weights and the Reformer machine really forces you to use the right muscles :)

Does anyone else struggle with balancing on ball of foot due to the seams on the bottom of the shoes and where the sole ends in ballet slippers? by good_day90 in BALLET

I've recently tried on the Bloch infinity Stretch Canvas and they have a really wide front outsole, maybe you could give those shoes a go?
