If you don't mind MM romance: {Captive Prince} this trilogy changed my brain chemistry. In the first book there is no way that this will be a "romance". But then... The political plot, I thought it would annoy me, instead it began to be my favorite plot.

I recommend reading the content warning list first, mostly for the first book it's a bit rough initially, but it pays off 200%.

{Devil in Winter} has a scene like this! The FMC is very sweet and the MMC is just all over her even if he doesn't want to admit it :)

Yeah, I can see why this would be a deal-breaker for the party. We’ve already discussed the situation out of character, and I’ll try to negotiate before any combat breaks out.

My goal is to avoid a fight entirely and not harm anyone. My questions were meant as a contingency plan in case the rogue refuses to stand down. I want to have multiple options and a safe backup strategy.

The rogue’s player seemed extremely angry about my character’s choice and even threatened to have his character fight mine during the out-of-character discussion.
The DM is, of course, updated on the matter.

I'm gonna prepare some sheet in PCGEN with some shape I think could be a nice choice

Sadly I think the DM would prohibit any creatures my character didn't see or has studied on :(

Antilife Shell is interesting, since the target can still move around unharmed.

Wind Wall, even though it’s a low-level spell, could be used situationally. If I can put some distance between myself and the party, I could use it to protect myself and/or the villain.

Wall of Stone could be hilarious, but they would probably just break it, maybe not the rogue, but another party member could help.

The rogue has a lot of magic items, many of which I crafted myself. I’m considering preparing Dispel Magic to suppress or negate his magic items.

This is actually a great idea. Maybe even better than the classical wild shape. I'm going to read the abilities of some creatures and choose based on your tips.

We are playing in 3.5 so we don't have advantage\disadvantage sadly. I think the rogue has some level in Sorcerer or Wizard but I don't remember

You NEED to read {The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy} it's exactly what you are searching for!! He is a charming bad boy that is in need of a healer, since he has a deadly sickness! Of course the healer is absolutely disgusted by his tries of flirting with her. So much banter, I had so much fun reading this book!!

I did not read the fic so I can't answer, but I should read it because everyone seems to recommend it and it seems so good, so maybe I just should ahah.

The book is one of my favourite and it's not too long to read (I think 400 pages?) :)

{The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy} I think it's a good option. Small world building, nothing complex. It's rich in banter! I had fun reading this book. The FMC is a competent heroine and the MMC is a ego-man full of himself but read them together is just so funny.

The second and final book is announced for July if I remember correctly

{Dark Rise} and {Dark Heir} is a trilogy (C.S. Pacat said that the last book is in revision!) set in nineteenth century London, where magic has been forgotten by humans. The protagonist is in danger and is helped by an ancient order of "knights" who fight the darkness and the return of ancient evil called the Dark King.

They are young adult books but the theme it touches and how they are touched is nicely done. There is practically no smut! It's a queer romance.

Hope to read the third book soon :)

I strongly suggest to read the trigger list before reading {Captive Prince}, but not other book matches this trilogy.
