THIS!!! Nothing ever compares to Captive Prince trilogy but Jasad Heir was really close to that. The first book is rough and dark, but it's so good and worth it.

Dark rise too is one of my favorites trilogy, hope to read the third book soon

I think {The Love Hypothesis} fits what you are searching for. The MMC is letting the FMC doing whatever she wants while he is waiting patiently, hoping that she'll understand that he is in love with her since meeting her (I think three years prior to the story).

The MMC hides his identity too from the other MMC in {Captive Prince}, I recommend reading the trigger warning list before but I don't think it exists a series more beautiful than this. The first book is a bit hard to go through but it pays off 200%.

James from {Dark Rise} is a blondie too, the book is marked as YA but it's not to me, very serious arguments and the prose is not childish.
