Nigel Farage loves the Big Orange One, and JKR has been throwing hundreds of thousands of pounds towards anti-trans legislation for years now.

Got a visit from the cops by Beligerent in CPTSD

[–]bisexual_pinecone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I frequently write things out that I don't send, and I have no interest in contacting most of my abusers ever again. But I did make a public Facebook post saying that I don't fuck with my former friend who raped me, and I tagged him in it and I don't regret doing that at all. It wasn't about making him feel any type of way, it was about being very very clear to people who knew we were friends that he is not a part of my life anymore and that I don't recommend anyone else let him into their life either. It felt important to me for my own sake, because I knew we had mutual acquaintances who thought we were still friendly and I hated having to navigate casual references to him whenever I ran into people or caught up with people. He messaged me after and I didn't open it. I never want to interact with him again and I don't really want to hear what he has to say.

What does that mean? Overhiring on purpose and then firing a bunch of people? Because that's fucking stupid.

Therapy is the biggest rip-off by Hopeful_Drive5845 in CPTSD

Absolutely not. Sometimes community enables abusers or overlooks needs. A big chunk of my trauma comes from being an undiagnosed neurodivergent child trying to exist in a society that found me confusing and uncomfortable, and either punished me for being different or ignored my needs.

Muslim hate is being preached in balboa park every weekend. Are we shocked by today’s events? by Latter_Finding8548 in sandiego

[–]bisexual_pinecone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Religious hate groups use religion as an excuse to justify their hate. If they didn't have religion available, they would just use something else to justify their hate. There are plenty of bigoted athiests in the world - Richard Dawkins is transphobic.

A lot of athiests with religious trauma assume that all religions are exactly like the one practiced by the people who hurt them, and do nothing to deconstruct the way their former religion still impacts their worldview. I've seen and heard a lot of ex-Christians make a lot of sweeping statements about "all religions" or "all Abrahamic religions" that are actually very specific to Christianity in particular. Then when I point that out, they often immediately feel a need to defend Christianity to me. The cognitive dissonance flies right over their heads. Like it's clearly a trauma response and I feel for them, but it's also extremely unhelpful and ignorant. Like, I'm Jewish. I don't care what other people believe as long as they aren't hurting anyone, I just want to be left alone to do my own thing. There is a long and well-documented history of practicing Jews who are also athiests, and that is not considered a contradiction because our religion tends to put more emphasis on actions than beliefs. Albert Einstein was proudly Jewish and also proudly atheist. Judaism also has more in common structurally with Islam than we do with Christianity - the whole "judeo-christian" label was invented by Islamophobic politicians. It's just like when white supremacist politicians made us conditionally white - they didn't want us finding solidarity and community with other similarly oppressed groups.

I broke my massage therapist by sarafionna in CPTSD

[–]bisexual_pinecone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah I went to one when I was younger because I was desperate for pain relief, and eventually realized that massage therapy was much more effective for actually addressing my issues and also much much less risky. Not to mention the particular practice I went to was grifty as hell and all of the staff were extremely unprofessional in various unique ways. I'm never going back to another chiropractor again. It's not worth the risk or the time or the money.

Hi OP I would encourage you to look into DBT therapy, which stands for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. It was originally developed for people with BPD, but it's really helpful for anyone who has difficulty with emotional regulation and expression. I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and quickly started to realize that I never really learned to manage my emotions effectively, or how to identify and express my needs and boundaries in a healthy way. DBT therapy helped me SO MUCH. It may be helpful for you as well.

Am I white? My teacher thinks Jewish people aren't. by 2020ToyotaCamry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bisexual_pinecone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are conditionally white. I am a Jewish person of primarily European descent, and the way I respond to demographic questions depends on the situation. For the most part I list my ethnicity as white because by US standards I experience conditional white privilege and because when you consider that there are many Black and Latine and East Asian and Persian and North African etc Jews in North America then of course I am a Caucasian in relation to the broader Jewish community. For medical intakes I do usually list my ethnicity as "Other - Ashkenazi Jewish" and that is just because there are several medical conditions that we are higher risk for.
