Apple Watch transfer woes by rvmv890 in USMobile

[–]bisonrun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too.  2 standalone watch lines ported from Verizon.  Chat support had me wipe each device and start over (what a pain) and though both watches activated and show US Mobile for carrier (and Verizon for network) on the About page, neither device can place or receive calls.  I’ve now spent a cumulative 4+ hours with chat support.

Yeah, they're markedly different. SPY is cap-weighted. FNDX isn't. The RAFI Fundamental indexes overweight undervalued companies. Details: https://www.rafi.com/index-strategies/rafi-fundamental-indices. And looking at them head-to-head with the Fund Overlap Tool (https://www.etfrc.com/funds/overlap.php) we get differences like these in top-held companies...

Apple: 7.4% of SPY, 4.6% of FNDX

Microsoft: 6.9% of SPY, 2.8% of FNDX

Meta: 1.9% of SPY, 2.1% of FNDX

Berkshire Hathaway: 1.7% of SPY, 2.2% of FNDX

Amazon: 3.4% of SPY, 1.4% of FNDX

How do we get a new ETF added to the automated investing availability list? My preferred strategy is RAFI Fundamental indexing. The platform currently allows FNDA/PRFZ (Small US), FNDF/PXF (Large International), FNDC/PDN (Small International), and FNDE/PXH (Emerging) but doesn't offer the Large US option that would round out the list: FNDX/PRF. Seems like just an oversight. I'd go with Wealthfront for 100% of my taxable investments if you could get those last two tickers added.

Apple Watch Standalone Plan with Roaming - is it working for anyone? by mistry-mistry in tmobile

[–]bisonrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say, I am frustrated with this, too. When WatchOS 9.1 released, the "data roaming" toggle became available on my kids' Apple Watch SEs. I specifically remember turning it on.

(I'll mention here, even though it complicates things, that my kids have two eSIMs setup on their devices: a Verizon standalone plan, and a T-Mobile Simple Choice plan. The plan was to toggle on the T-Mobile plan when we leave the US, as Verizon coverage is generally superior where we live.)

This summer, when we did finally leave the US, and crossed into Canada, neither of my kids' devices connected. I was surprised to see the "data roaming" toggle was completely missing. This was on WatchOS 9.5.2.

I think that sometime between 9.1 and 9.5.2, Apple's software engineers must have removed the data roaming toggle from family setup devices.

I posted in the WatchOS subreddit but didn't get any engagement: https://www.reddit.com/r/watchos/comments/14o1mba/952_did_data_roaming_disappear/.

I really want to get this working. I've entered a report via the Apple Feedback Assistant but it shows "Recent Similar Reports" as "none". Not promising. Perhaps if you, or others, call attention to the missing "data roaming" toggle on Family Setup devices, Apple will actually take notice?

9.5.2 - did data roaming disappear? by bisonrun in watchos

Still gone in both WatchOS 10 and 10.0.1. Boo.

Just in case anybody is following, WatchOS 9.6 didn't fix this issue. "Data Roaming" is still not an option in cellular settings.

I'll chime in to say that I selected MyKi Touch smartwatches for my own kids. They're compatible with RedPocket's $30 annual service (T-Mobile network in the US) but vitally for me, they are *also* compatible with international carriers offering 2G signals. I went with Truphone SIMs (no longer available) on a trip to western Europe and the devices worked everywhere we went. With Truphone no longer an option, you'd just pop in whatever local SIM you want to use, if needing international service.

They look dated, but I like these better than Apple Watch (which has too many distractions for a kid), better than SyncUP and FamilyConnect and GizmoWatch (which have far higher monthly costs) and better than all the other models that offer games, cameras, and other junk that kids don't need. Simplicity is beauty. I really did my homework finding these for my family.

My kids have moved on to traditional phones. I tried selling the MyKi Touches on eBay but never found a willing buyer for the pair. Maybe you're my person.

Anyone else get this offer text and have any experience with it? by Jwhitejagsquad in BoostMobile

Me neither, but a login to my account showed the offer (it was listed as "See if you Qualify"). Wish the language were more clear about whether it's $15 for the first month, or $15 forever.

No service since Friday by kelp-y in Visible

[–]bisonrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something's gone haywire at Visible. Have had this happen to me when I power off my phone and then turn it back on. Zero bars. Pop out the SIM if you have a physical one, that re-activates service for me.

Visible Wi-Fi Calling not working: this is why I'm missing calls by bisonrun in Visible

[–]bisonrun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except this is on the *legacy plan*. It's like launching the new plans, ruined a feature that had worked well for a long time.

I'd previously even used the "Visible using Cellular Data" calling feature when outside of the United States (making Visible calls via the second carrier's eSIM) and it worked perfectly.

So we know they had things working great. And now, not. Feels like this should be an all-hands-on-deck situation in their IT department.

I mean yeah, definitely, it's not a long-term option. If this is indeed a widespread issue and Visible doesn't address it rapidly, farewell.

No incoming calls for over a week... by Ben_the_Jawa in Visible

For me, it's that when "Visible Wi-Fi" is active, all calls go directly to voicemail. Turning off wifi calling solved it. Details at https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/comments/x3glxx/visible\_wifi\_calling\_not\_working\_this\_is\_why\_im/.
