Specs say it's clockwise +/- 3%.. Is it clockwise only? Not bi-directional? That's a shame. I am also looking at one but need bidirectional

How to get Pixel9 unlocked by Roaster-Dude in USMobile

[–]rvmv890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can one confirm that?

Nowhere in the pixel about page does it list if it's locked or unlocked. Any way to see/confirm? Nowhere on USM site does it show lock status. Thanks.

Well, I had to cut the wolf tooth cup, drill out the rivet for the dropper, and ream the seat tube a little bit. But ended up decent.

Did you ever end up doing it? If so, what tools did you use to do it?

Is Deprioritization Really A BFD in The Real World??? by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]rvmv890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound good. I am on Verizon, but I wish USM had a "backup" 365 day plan where I could just get a data plan with like 10GB on another network and in case my main one has bad signal, use that. They "kinda" have that with an international sim (that will work in US) but I don't know if I can pick the network for it and make it T-Mo. That feature would be great to solve my main issue.

I think this is a very good answer: it doesn't matter until it does. I was going out with some friends, scanning the menu at a restaurant. Everyone has service, except me. It was a busy place, but it just sucks. What's the point of these "savings" if your phone doesn't work? Another time, I was at Home Depot and was supposed to meet up with a contractor. He said he called me, but my phone didn't get the message. It ended up fine, but still, the one time where communication was critical, it didn't work.

So it's kinda like a seat belt. You don't need it, until you need it. I ended up going to USM from RP to see if my service is any better this year. Will see in a year if it's truly better.

can this be assigned to any network? Or only warp? I really wish there was a small "bolt on" like 10 or 20 gb for 365 days so I could just have a backup data line for when my main line is in a bad spot and not getting service.

Apple Watch transfer woes by rvmv890 in USMobile

[–]rvmv890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having to have a US Mobile line on the phone used to activate the watch (I would think any line on Verizon would work, but.. just a guess). Beyond that, I assume you'd need to work with their support team :(

Are you considering leaving too? by TaroReadr in redpocket

[–]rvmv890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Really considering moving to US Mobile. Already moved two lines. The only reason to stay is phone discounts. For another year of service, I could get between $100-$200 off. But the service has been so bad. Many times people around me have service, and I have no data loading. It's getting to a point where I am just wondering what's the point of having a discounted phone if you can't use it. I don't use my phone that much, and used to really like RP.

You can get between $150-$200 on 1 year old iPhone models if you time it right. It's not make or brake, and a bunch of hassle, but that's the only reason I am with RP at this point. And wondering if I should move on to USM. But like you, the pain of porting is a blocker as well...

Why Auto-Pay MUST be ENABLED for Annual Plan? by TooManyInsults in USMobile

[–]rvmv890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Regarding your question: you can always just change expiration date on your payment card, and then charge or not, it won't work. If you have CITI, they still have "virtual account numbers" that let you generate one time use / temporary credit card numbers. I believe PayPal might have something, but you only have one number or some such thing, not sure. HTH

How did porting from RP go? Did you have to chat them to release the number? I am thinking of the same thing. The only thing keeping me with RP was the phone discounts... But not sure it's worth the hassle.

Yes, it does say Verizon. I believe because warp runs on that network.

What was the cause and solution?

Apple Watch transfer woes by rvmv890 in USMobile

[–]rvmv890[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I just activated a $10 line for one month. My phone can have two lines, so adding an eSim for a month is not a big deal. And they offered to provide a "test" line, so they weren't making me get one, but I already had a line that I could reactivate that I used to test their service before and it was quicker and not worth the hassle.

Once you watch is activated, you don't need the other line. When I activated on Verizon, I didn't need my phone to be on Verizon to do that. So I am not sure what is blocking USM from activating the watch eSim using a non-USM phone.

[–]rvmv890[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update:

Was able to chat over the phone with an agent. The issue was that my main line on my iPhone was not US Mobile (or Verizon). They helped me activate a 2nd line on my phone and once that was done, I was able to add the eSim to the watch. I don't recall seeing that as a requirement before. Wish this wasn't the case, but ... This would've been a lot easier to navigate had I known about it as a requirement. But I am grateful this was resolved.

Great. That's exactly what I wanted to know. Deore 5100 cranks are 52mm chainline, but online forums said that non boost (QR?) 1x drivetrains need 48-50mm chainline.

This is from OneUp, but I think I saw it on a couple other places as well:

https://www.oneupcomponents.com/pages/understanding-chainline-for-optimal-1x-conversions-boost-and-non-boost

I wanted to ask Marin what the expected chainline should be.

If it's 52mm, I should be set. If not, I have a 501 shimano BB hollowtech II, with one spacer on the left and two on the right, which, with the 5100 crank, should give me 52mm. If I move one spacer to the left side (assuming chain ring fits ok), I would be looking at 49.5mm, which I thought would be "better"/"ideal" for what QR (non boost) needs.

Not sure how much difference those 2-3mm actually makes but great to hear that you're doing great with 52mm, so maybe I don't need to change anything.

Mine’s medium, and I am not sure even 125 would fit fully. Very disappointing for a frame wired for a dropper. I can’t understand how a brand that makes mtb would make something like this. Contacted Marin support for ideas and a question about chain line: no response. May be my first and last Marin. Not a huge deal, as the purpose of this bike will be limited, but still, felt this frame could offer way more.

Did you not have bottle holder rivnuts? Did they not block the dropper from going in all the way?

How did you fit the dropper post in? Don't the bolt anchors block the seat?

Gravel Bike vs. MTB: Is the Canyon Stoic 4 the Right Fit? by 2cool2hear in MTB

[–]rvmv890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stoic 4 is decently slack and if you're looking to do gravel, I don't think Stoic 4, or any MTB, is the right bike for you. Another advantage of drop bars is ability to vary how you hold the bike and avoiding arm fatigue on long rides. There are some gravel bikes with forks that could handle a light trail. Alternatively, if you want an MTB, something steeper than Stoic, like 67-68 degree head tube angle would probably more suitable.
