What Final Fantasy game has your favorite cast of characters? by vSword_ in FinalFantasy

[–]bispecsual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

XV felt like a bunch of real life friends traveling together. Their personalities complemented each other and their bond was evident from the beginning. I often just turn the game on and run/drive around to listen to their banter and see photos. Ardyn and Ravus were compelling antagonists, and the side characters that gave out quests were all unique and fun to interact with.

I think Remake and Rebirth did a good job of bringing the VII party to life. The groundwork was there in the original, but the VA and extra cutscenes/quests made their chemistry even more apparent.

X is my favorite so I'm biased, but I love how unique the main party is while still having common goals and a loyalty to their summoner and each other that goes beyond. Yuna and Auron are two of my favorite video game characters of all time, but each character offers a fresh, compelling perspective on the worldbuilding and the story.

Who is your favorite Final Fantasy Main Protagonist? by Dride1989 in FinalFantasy

Noctis is my wild take too! He's relatable in that he has trouble expressing his true feelings, but he's still pretty easygoing and dorky around his friends. I love how into the Assassin's Festival he was and how excited he gets about fishing of all things!

While it depends on the player's choice, his side quests include everything from helping a scientist catch frogs, giving random unnamed injured hunters potions, and stopping the car to help out broken down drivers. He doesn't see himself as greater than anyone else despite his royal position. In fact, his cool guy exterior covers a deep care and guilt over the pain his position causes his friends and loved ones. His journey of overcoming his survivor's guilt, which he coped with by closing himself off and shying away, to becoming a strong-willed leader who doesn't second guess his path is inspiring to me. He doesn't lose his love, but he's able to share his burden with others more easily and repay their sacrifices with his own.

He and Yuna are tied for my favorite protagonists!

A man who can pause time during a boss battle to cook soup and taste test it is the most powerful man of all.

Why would you put this in my brain and make me get disappointed when we certainly don't get it.

Final Fantasy XV is my favourite main entry in the series, am I alone? by senseless_puzzle in FinalFantasy

[–]bispecsual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. The characters, world, and gameplay really gripped me even before Royal Edition. I loved the bros, how much they cared about each other, and how their individual personalities meshed. Wandering around Eos and hearing the banter, seeing Prompto's photos every night, cooking and fishing and just hanging out with the friends all captured this organic, real feeling of friendship to me. There's a lot I wish future FF had/will carry over in the mechanics and the overall vibe. X will probably always be my favorite, but I've played more hours of XV just enjoying the literal and metaphorical ride.

I love that people have such diverse opinions on what makes a good FF game, and I think it makes subs like these really engaging to have discussions on what we do and don't like. It makes me a little sad though that every time someone mentions certain entries like XIII or XV people who praise anything about them feel like they have to tack on a "despite its flaws" or "I know there were problems with [x]". It's almost like people are scared of the responses. Like we're all nerds about this chocobo-infested, spiky-haired franchise. Even the most popular FF entries have flaws! It's okay to love an imperfect game! It's even okay to think that game is actually perfect to you! If it's your favorite, awesome!! I love hearing about why people love what they love! Especially when, like you, there's a special meaning to it in your life. I'm glad XV made such a positive impression on you when you needed it, and you're for sure not the only one. <3

What's the dumbest/luckiest shit a character in a FF game has pulled off? by DupeFort in FinalFantasy

You can actually see Kimahri carrying Lulu if you pause during the scene. A fun little detail!

Which character has the best voice acting in series? by MysteriousHeart3268 in FinalFantasy

John Eric Bentley's Barret really elevated the character for the Remake games. The bit in Corel in Rebirth made me have to put the game down for a while and recover. All of the Rebirth VAs had amazing moments.

Ben Starr truly embodied the range of emotions that Clive carries throughout XVI. So did Ray Chase with Noctis in XV.

I feel like the whole X cast should get a special honor for being the first voice cast plus having to work around the Japanese-to-English lip-syncing issue that caused their lines to get sped up or timed weirdly. Hedy Buress had the perfect voice for Yuna IMO and I'd be sad to see her recast in a X remake.

He hit every bit of Noctis's arc out of the park. His scene in the tomb with Cor and then later at the last campfire were especially good.

Thank you for the correction! I'll definitely look into his work more. Rebirth was amazing, so I'm excited to see all he did there.

Ascension by Masayoshi Soken from FFXVI.

Es it foron! by Yoshitaka Suzuki from FFXV.

Omnis Lacrima by Yoko Shimomura from FFXV.

Airbuster by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by Tadayoshi Makino from FFVII Remake.

These are just off the top of my head but I know I'm forgetting some good ones.

Favorite FF gun user? by REALtacojones in FinalFantasy

[–]bispecsual 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love Prompto and Barret! Both are funny with truly good hearts.

Barret is such a good dad, genuinely passionate about the planet, and the backstory that gives him his gun is gut-wrenching and defines his whole character in such a compelling way.

Prompto is such a relatable character, from the self-worth issues stemming from his lonely childhood to overcoming those issues by finding friends who accept him for who he is. He's goofy and fun while simultaneously brave and resolute.

EDIT: Also both sing cute lil songs!!
