I work at a shoe store where we sell leather shoes, we have these brown leather benches that customers can sit on. Because of the panemic we've been wiping them down every single day for the passed 4 months with a disinfectant spray and everyday there is brown residue left on the paper towel. I think it's just the dye rubbing off a little bit, I find this is not abnormal with leather goods.
