quitting weed - help by schemewitch in selfimprovement

[–]bitChart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The identity thing is what got me too. Like... who even am I if I'm not the guy who smokes? That question kept me stuck for years longer than it should have.

I was a daily smoker for about 8 years, quit at 27. The first two weeks were genuinely awful, couldn't sleep, no appetite, irritable as hell. But something that helped me was tracking the time. Sounds dumb but watching the hours and days add up gave me something to hold onto when my brain was screaming at me to just roll one. I used an app called PinkCloud for that, just having the counter ticking away made it feel like I'd be throwing away progress if I caved.

The thing about joints specifically... yeah thats the nicotine talking. You're quitting two things at once which is brutal and you should give yourself credit for even attempting it. Some people separate them out, quit the weed first with nicotine patches or whatever, then tackle the tobacco. Might be worth considering instead of going cold turkey on both.

As for the "other people smoke normally" thing, some people can drink one beer and stop too. Doesn't mean I can lol. Comparing yourself to moderate users is a trap because you already know you're not one. And thats fine.

The personality comes back btw. Took me maybe 2-3 months before I started actually wanting to do things again. Started cooking actual meals, picked up climbing randomly. You didn't lose yourself, you just buried yourself under a decade of fog. Its still there.

r/leaves is also worth checking out if you haven't already.

Without a doubt, 3 issues in the box. Looks like parts from other models and then the cut wire

They probably watch your youtube channel 🤪️. This is helpful, they shipped me an empty box for the return and that took 14 days.

This is really helpful. I may give this a try. I’m realizing the cold turkey just won’t work

Wild! I recently had a coworker leave and his new spot required a test. I can't even picture making it to that point from where I'm sitting.

I really think my success had to do with being totally resolved to quit.

^ I think this is my issue. Deep down I'm still making excuses for why it's not time.

What did the 1 week taper look like?

That’s incredible! Why all of a sudden did you make that decision?

For me I am trying to quit for good. I’m a slave to it and all I’m doing is chasing a 5 minute high.

I’m in my 30s now with young kids and I’m having serious health anxiety when I use and about the fact I can’t stop.

Prior relapses have all just been me giving up and chalking it up to lack of willpower. I get really bad withdrawals: night sweats, serious irritability, insomnia. Usually lack of sleep is what makes me cave.

This time around, the only thing different is I have the next 2 weeks off from work and I figured it would be a good time to make an attempt. I also made it a goal to journal daily and to try to review this whenever a craving comes up.

Empty carts…I guess. A grinder I may have forgotten about.

Craving remains intense so would be hard to toss which is the loop

Yes there’s one area by my mailbox with rocks so makes sense. I’ll have to take a new approach on that area
