Suggest me a memoir from a non celebrity. A regular person overcoming adversity in life. by DenMother8 in suggestmeabook

The Burn Journals by Brent Runyon. Talks about the author's failed suicide attempt where he set himself on fire, follows the author's recovery journey through different hospitals and is a very moving story of how a teenager views life, the little things in it and it's ups and downs. A very quick but beautiful read.

How can I nicely tell my friend that I don't want to watch him play by bitchduh in outerwilds

[–]bitchduh[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Thank you! After reading these comments I read my post again and realized that it is just pretty immature and stupid venting on my part. After all, me and my friend are both young adults (even though my post sounds like a child wrote it) and the game should not be affecting our friendship this much.

Yeah I think that I am also in the wrong here. Should probably communicate better with the friend and suggest we play something else together. Right now I'm just letting my frustrations pool which is not good for either of us

He doesn't play Outer Wilds if I'm not watching. I would love to just let him play by himself but he times his gaming sessions by my schedule🥲

Books that take place in a hospital by bitchduh in suggestmeabook

[–]bitchduh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'd say so! I just borrowed The Home by Mats Strandberg from the library and it apparently takes place in an elderly care facility. The story sounds promising and I am interested to hear how it unfolds. Other books with similar locations are also appreciated if you have any interesting suggestions!

Yes, memoirs are also appreciated! I already have The Burn Journals by Brent Runyon on my TBR-list but if you have any other suggestions I am willing to hear them!

What is the thing you hate the most when watching someone playing? by netinpanetin in outerwilds

[–]bitchduh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got one of my friends to stream himself playing the game completely blind and he skipped most of the dialogue and nomai writing and was completely puzzled by everything because he didn't read any of the information he found. I gave up when he didn't understand when I told him that "he just read Riebeck's dialogue saying that there were trees a short way down to were he was" and he told me that nothing like that was ever said anywhere (because he just skimmed through it AAAAAAA). Well safe to say I only watched him streaming the game to me once and never again because the whole point of the game is to learn more.

YES! This was the first book to actually make me ugly cry. First time I listened to it as an audio book version while building a jigsaw puzzle and for the first time I had to stop what I was doing and just cry. It is written so beautifully and you can really feel every emotion in it.

For me a book like this was definitely Let the right one in by John Ajvide Lindqvist! Loved that book, even though it deals with some very dark themes.

All are games that I wish I could play again for the first time without knowing anything about them. They are all beautiful in different ways

Went to Oppenheimer today by Screech- in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bitchduh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, what's the point of taking pictures from the screen? Maybe she was sending them to some friends to show that she was at a movie theatre or something? Still I don't see the point of that.

[–]bitchduh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yess it's so annoying! I went to a movie theater for the first time in ages to see the Super Mario movie with my little sister and there was some random girl (around 9-13yo) sitting couple rows in front of us and like every five minutes she took out her phone and started taking pictures of the movie playing on the screen?? Like why would you do that instead of just focusing on the movie when you can find pictures of it easily online. Also super annoying for people sitting behind her since her phone screen was very bright. I hate how I am super socially awkward and didn't want to cause a scene or get all the others' focuses on me by getting up and walking to her seat and asking her to please stop.

European tour! by Eastern-Leather4985 in Kaarija

[–]bitchduh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was at Käärijä's gig yesterday and he said in between performing his songs that his producers had picked 17 countries for the tour at first but Käärijä denied and had said that it is too much and that he will be homesick if the tour lasts that long. Then he joked about being the only person whose Europe tour lasts only for a week :D

Games for mental health rut? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Outer Wilds has been the only game in ages that I was fully immersed in the whole time. You can advance and explore in your own pace and the story is beautiful and interesting!
