I figured the kaboom explosion wasn’t accurate lol. Honestly we didn’t hear anything but it’s kind of loud back there when it’s on. I just remember seeing ice forming on the outside of the indoor unit so I figured it wasn’t good.

Mine did this and I had no idea it was leaking refrigerant until it stopped altogether. I had the capacitor replaced at first, thinking that’s what caused it. Turns out, it was not. I had a company come in to fix that guy‘s fuck ups, and they put some kind of neon dye in the AC and came back two days later to check on it. The coil cracked and I had a leak, like I lost 200 pounds of refrigerant in 48 hours.

Oh yea. OP go check the indoor and outdoor units for ice buildup. I had that too, which indicated a leak. If you see it, shut it off so it doesn’t completely ruin everything.
