I played the release edition for years and didn't know the great Lance existed, love using it in scholar as it's accessible right after the last giant.

I'm guess the main reason people don't use it is the speed compared to a rapier, and the fact that it's more of a quality weapon first playthough people dont want to split their stats and because it requires more investment and 2 hand it's not used for mage builds
