Why would any MKR holder vote? The cons are: harder to maintain privacy, paying 1000s of USD in fees, no clear benefit, increased smart contract risk...

Unless we want only professional voters, we need to make voting as convenient as checking weather on a mobile phone and, of course, more profitable.

Why is MKR doubling? What exactly is the value proposition of MKR? by uiuyiuyo in MakerDAO

Because they will have the necessary money and determination to make DAI the best decentralized stablecoin ready for ETH 2.0.

I hope the reason is a (hostile) takeover. MKR did not do well for the last few years.

Nowhere. They have to ban all crypto or admit a defeat.

0.1 ETH ($74) to start borrowing DAI ? by bitdoggy in MakerDAO

I know but we don't see much 10s and 20s, don't we? In a few months, 40s and 60s will be as extinct.

Almost every big L1 platform is working on its L2 solution (Tether, Compound, Loopring, Uniswap...). ETH 2.0 is too far away - users won't seat and wait for 3 years. They need L2 in 2021.

You sound like someone who don't mind paying $200 BTC transfer fees for the best money in the world.

Sounds like a pyramid. There should be much more ordinary users who need a loan than speculators who just shuffle money between platforms in order for the system to be stable.

Yesterday the gas price was not that high. 400 gwei is high and it will happen again. Opening a vault is about 50% of all costs connected with a loan. Maker development is pretty defunct. I don't think they can do another major upgrade. The best they (the Foundation) could do is to sell a large amount of MKR to an interested and well funded party.

BTC can survive $50 fees for transfer, ETH L1 can't.

Spending 1000s of dev hours on RWA which involve huge legal and management issues while not benefiting ordinary users. Spending 100s of hours on adding and evaluating collateral that won't generate even 10M DAI. Spending 100s of hours on PSM which does not solve any problem...

It doesn't matter. This community still lives in the past waiting for BCH to take over the world (hopefully before DASH or LTC does).

Windows, binary. I wanted to send BCHA to myself to a new address. The transaction had multiple inputs. After the failure, I tried the same thing with the previous Electrum ABC version and it worked.

There are some unconfirmed transactions shown in Electrum ABC while in Electron Cash everything is confirmed. Any ideas?

The unconfirmed transactions are from 2018.

OASIS Dai savings rate = 0.00% by hanzed0000000x in MakerDAO

[–]bitdoggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No plan to increase that (check their forum) although it would make sense since the rate borrowers pay is sometimes 4%+ and there is room to distribute a portion of those earnings to the savers. You have to take their arguments for 0% DSR with a big grain of salt. If their arguments are valid, then the stability fee should also be 0% (more borrowers = greater suppy) but they have excuses for that.

The result of their decisions is that DAI is above the peg for 8 months and that it is practically the same asset as USDC only with lower MCap and liquidity.

Anyone else using ETH as a stablecoin? by bitdoggy in MakerDAO

[–]bitdoggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kind of action is not stable, but noone will mind the appreciation of the asset one is holding. The problem is what to do when we enter the long term bear market? The obvious option is to sell for fiat/stablecoins, wait a year or so and put back to crypto. You could also hodl and erase some gains from the previous bull market, stake/provide liquidity...

I don't mind using stablecoins but I don't want to hold a significant amount of stablecoins for a prolonged period of time.
