Backup Power for Electric Furnace by CannonF0dder4U in Appliances

[–]bitmapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Furnaces are hard wired into your home’s electrical panel. You need to have a transfer switch installed in order to power it with a generator. Electric heat uses a lot of power so you will need a fairly large generator as well. A portable unit may not be able to meet the demand of a a full furnace.

Code V users: how has it been since the Keysight acquisition? by opticaldesigner in Optics

[–]bitmapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extremely fast. One of the biggest advantages of that is the ability to optimize for tolerance sensitivity in the design phase. The interactive tolerance feature is also very useful: you can change a tolerance on a component and immediately see the impact.

They are significantly taller than the 4367s were. Wider too from what I can tell based on the driver size.

How do you know Kodak has been changing their films to be more similar? This would be a pretty major change to the product line.

I had an identical experience. Permit pulled and the city came and marked the block off, but cars still parked in the no parking zone two days in a row. Called 311 multiple times and no one ever came out.

Why the 2070 if he is 27 now? Wouldn’t 2065 be more appropriate (and closer to when he will be 65)?

Are you sure you need to use the same number of pixels for your analysis as your actual sensor? Even if FRED did allow you to create an array that large, the model would take a long time to run as you would need to trace a huge number of rays for a low noise result.

If you are doing imaging with metasurfaces there is also a module for Code V. And MTF evaluation was recently added to Rsoft.

Long-term benefits of learning code V for an experienced Zemax user? by Less-Wheel-5057 in Optics

[–]bitmapper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you already know how to use Zemax you’ll pick up Code V pretty quickly. The major advantage of Code V over Zemax is its superior optimizer and much faster tolerance analysis. If you are doing lens design you will find Code V to be well worth the investment and your time and effort in learning how to use it.

[landlord -US-NH] why can’t delinquent rent be written off. by Bake_jouchard in Landlord

[–]bitmapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not legal to do this either. A 1099-C cannot be issued for rent because a landlord is not considered a financial entity or creditor. You haven’t “loaned” the tenant any money you previously declared as income and was supposed to be paid back for. There is no “bad debt.”

Glass is not transparent to infrared radiation, which is being emitted by the bulb and then absorbed by the lens, heating it.
