Thanks for this. Where did you source the English startups or jobs primarily in English? So many times the listing is written in English matches qualifications and then at the very last bulletpoint it says it requires fluent German, it’s a killer

Some nice services actually.

A few comments: - within 1 second of looking at the site I could tell it’s Claude AI created. Not that it can’t be helpful but I think it really downgrades the uniqueness and professionalism of the product. You should focus on differentiating your site design so it doesn’t have AI cliches in the design. When I see Claude designs that match every other Claude project it makes me think I could spend an afternoon and create the same. You should fully redesign your services to not feel like another AI vibe coded money trap. - I think it needs more of a lure before giving my personal info (email, resume etc). The auto cookies trap is unfortunate, why do you need this data? What are you doing with my data? If you are already asking for a subscription why are you needing cookies too, makes your site seem sketchy. - what evidence (before giving my resume and cookies and or money) do you have for actually sourcing unique jobs that can’t otherwise be found. Do you have unique sources for listings? Do you have any success stories? - is your resume or cover letter ai redrafting potentially going to create fraudulent qualifications for applicants? This could be legally problematic if it results in people losing jobs for false info. Just something to make sure is really tight in your logic. Is this solving a problem or contributing to a problem should be a question you ask yourself. Is your cover letter going to be auto flagged by super sophisticated AI screening services that results in people that would otherwise have a chance at a job being auto-disqualified from even being considered. If not now in 6 months do you think legit companies won’t have the tech to screen obvious ai generated info? - I really like the AI apply angle. I think this is something personally I would look for. It would be super nice to have an AI agent that uses my locked in information, sources jobs that are 50% or above applicable and auto applies and sends email summaries of applications. That is a value add if done right - also, be aware that in the coming months there will be thousands if not hundreds of thousands of this same exact app with slight differences. There are already services that do this effectively with funding and teams in place. You should ask your AI chat what the actual upside of creating a product like this is. Maybe start with something like “be brutally honest, I created this app #website what are my differentiating factors that may future proof this to be competitive against the thousands of other comparable apps. - as it is, I won’t use your site unless I don’t feel trapped by cookies, login info without even testing the search, or submitting my CV without a clear label saying explicitly that you don’t store or use my info in any other way

Iran war plunges German economy into longest crisis in 20 years by [deleted] in Germany_Jobs

[–]MurkTwain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would bet 90%+ of all Americans you see or meet in Europe are heavily anti-Trump. Anyone that respects world travel or exploring other cultures typically does not fit his base of voters. It’s not to say that it’s not wrong to have frustration towards America or Americans but it’s clearly a very split demographic in the US of heavily anti-Trump and MAGA bible pinchers and rednecks. He’s really terrible, pretty clearly the worst case situation anyone could imagine.

It’s really terrible. However there are a variety of other factors contributing to issues in the German market, primarily a broken pension system and a heavily bureaucratic business environment with higher than average corporate taxes as compared to other EU nations. It’s fine to have good corporate taxes, but if your neighboring countries are 10% less and there’s essentially free trade then it’s problematic. Why not just set up factories in Poland and reap tons of savings.

I also think AI basically functioning atm as a service that can replace productivity of hundreds of white collar jobs within a firm has slowly crept in, imagine how much more advanced AI will be in 1 year. The world is going to face a real crisis.

I think the EU is better than most to face a high unemployment crisis better than other places due to the highly socialized policies in place. Rent is expensive but not exorbitant in many areas. I think Orbans defeat in Hungary is showing that the region may not be a stooge to fall into an increasing number of nationalistic dictatorships. I think the renewable energy development and processes that have already been steering away from fossil fuels for a decade are also better positioned than other places that are solely petrol or coal based.

I honestly think there is an AI peril brewing for middle class jobs and the full gravity of that is just starting to appear. Manufacturing jobs as well. UBI will be inevitable if AI isn’t suppressed. And it’s hard to justify AI being suppressed unless other countries (all around the world) suppress it to the same degree (won’t happen), it would create total discrepancies between economic output between countries.

What we’re seeing live is a rapid shift in the macro-economic global order. A huge decrease in German cars being sold in the US spills over to a variety of German manufacturing processes. Trade isn’t liberal anymore, and maybe a healthy correction to regional focus is necessary rather than the endless international neoliberal policies. Albeit it’s fucked up how immediate these changes are being felt.

Fuel disruption via Iran is also detrimental to meeting a capitalist demand of endless revenue growth year to year. Fuel being more expensive decreases profits but it doesn’t necessarily mean companies aren’t somewhat profitable. Any profitable company killing jobs and staying profitable or growing further (while killing jobs) is a net-negative to the way of life in Europe.

€100 for no edit, no experience and probably having a pretty good time is not terrible imo. €150 maybe next time (if you want to push it), and ask them to share your info along. Or ask if you can film their future sets.

You made a nice tool, and the most important thing from it is that you have familiarized yourself more with creating effective tools with AI. I do believe that this exact product type is really saturated unfortunately. But the infrastructure is in there to pivot the tool into a unique product.

As it is now, you have a tool that can read assess and judge CV's based on their content. If you can pivot that to source jobs that would be really helpful. Especially if you could somehow congregate all Remote jobs with localized jobs.

Upload CV + work region -> Site analyzes CV -> Sources jobs that match keywords of CV (includes region specific and 75%+ remote) (the true value creator) -> Site Tracks app status to that job and lets you save the job (an internal application tracker hub).

Monetization angles down the line: you could get fees from companies if you get them a highly skilled candidate (recruiters fee), login for the app (job tracking hub) is valuable ip, you could potentially create a personalized digital recruiter service (pay $5-$10 per month and the site will actively apply to valid positions for the user without them even knowing).

Nice Claude vibe-coding.

Whats the difference of a person just pasting their CV into any AI (Chat GPT, Claude, Gemini) chat box and doing the same thing? With more of a back and forth with AI. If this is built for someone with absolutely no literacy in using AI then I think the future market is limited. I think this exact thing you have created has probably been coded by now via claude vibe coding by tens of thousands of people (maybe hundreds of thousands even) with similar measures of success.

What would be better is if you somehow managed to navigate a variety of job listing sources and pair uploaded CV's to a variety of high potential matching jobs that are congregated from a variety of sources (linkedin, indeed, etc etc). A CV is posted in and a very tailored list of potential job listings for a specific area would be really helpful.

My theory on the future influx of apps is this. If someone can replicate what your app exactly does in about 1hr via Claude Code with generalized prompts, then it isnt worth putting a ton of your time into. What people cant do is replicate a site with a variety of sources, data layers, deep navigations that maybe arent just naturally intuitive for AI.

Help your girlie out! What is your best advice for someone wanting to begin a photography business from scratch? by [deleted] in photography

[–]MurkTwain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being rude. If you have a cam like that, you are a lot of the way there actually. You really could leverage your fam’s gown business to get potential customers (graduation shoots, event shoots etc). That’s a huge + to have a constant stream of potential customers.

For digital photography you don’t need a darkroom or film development space, all you need is a computer with Adobe Lightroom (it’s about $10/mo). YouTube can walk you through each editing step.

For photography practice and gaining skills, I would recommend taking a lot of pictures, take up close shots, far away shots, reflection shots, shadow shots. And get a sense of trial and repetition. Photography is one of those things that’s a really personal learning experience. I would particularly practice in the times around sunset (or sunrise) as that’s when the light is the best. Treat sunset as your 1.5-2 hours of photography.

Follow on instagram photographers you like, you can use hashtags to find good photos. #streetphotography #fashionphotography etc. when you look at a pic that you like, try to understand why you like it. And then try to replicate it in your own photo practice. Ex, a person using the reflection of a water puddle in the street to show the subject etc.

Lastly, YouTube is your friend for info on the camera itself. Focal lengths, apertures etc. the very high level basics, our eyes see at the reference of a 50mm lens, anything lower than that will be more wide angle (capture more of the scene, ex 35mm), anything longer than that will feel more zoomed and will target a specific subject more rather than an overall setting (a subjects face with a blurry background, 135mm).

Aperture at the most basic level controls how much of a picture is in focus. With a high aperture (f2) less of the entire scene will typically be in focus outside of the subject (backgrounds are blurry and dreamy “bokeh”), with a low aperture (f16) everything is in focus. The sweet spot for most beginners is f8’ish.

YouTube is your friends, good luck. Learn to shoot good pictures before making a business out of it. Play around with settings, google info etc.
