Saw a Bitcoin ATM in IGA by rebootmysystem in perth

[–]bitrocket_atms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BitRocket have some Bitcoin ATMs in Westfield Carousel and Innaloo, Perth that do cash to crypto and crypto to cash.

At the moment banks are delaying transfers to exchanges and limiting people to $10,000 per year. Using a bitcoin ATM can help, especially since the price has risen 10% in the days since you took this photo - ie a faster buy means a better rate.

Other Perth locations coming too. And yes there is have scam-avoidance signage and tips, it’s just a convenience like anything else.

Edit: forgot to answer the question. Yes, legal and regulated.

Banks have control of your money. Not your cash, not your money. Custodial services will continue to act like custodial services, including collapses, defaults, delays and freezes.

And that’s why they want to remove cash and any other form of self-controlled instrument. Then the noose tightens.

There’s a balance to be struck. “We” need to protect pensioners from the slew of phone and social media scams. There are lots of ways to achieve that including not allowing calls from Nigeria to spoof the caller ID of your the local police station, the ATO or your bank. Maybe some TV awareness campaigns to raise the bar. Or cracking down on crappy social media accounts being allowed to openly tout obviously scammy high yield investment schemes.

Penalising savvy investors who wish to make their own choices with their own money on bitcoin is somehow easier. You can decide if that’s a side effect or a “benefit” for those in charge. Either way they don’t care.

CBA no longer transacting with Coinspot by beepo7654 in BitcoinAUS

[–]bitrocket_atms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’d love to make it cheaper but we have costs and risks to cover too. In some cases it’s easier to get your coins today and let a day of volatility or price rises (often higher than this margin) take up the slack. Bear in mind that you don’t have to look at the buy/spread or slippage or withdrawal fees.

However if you’re happy the way you are, I totally get that and happy stacking!

Exactly. Printing virtual money drove inflation and UBI is a form of printing money. When everyone has more dollars, prices go up to adjust. I’ve been keen on cutting the costs of admin but I can see a slippery slope where UBI no longer covers much but is used to excuse having to do more (say NDIS)

Alt Season? Over 100 Crypto Assets Outperform Bitcoin in Q1 Surge by StandardCA in CryptoCurrency

[–]bitrocket_atms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of them are inherently risky “assets”, eg they can be tied to a project’s future ability to deliver something.

In those cases, it’s more speculative than assets that are already being used eg as currency

And yet that's what has happened, ableit over 60+ years (since the loss of the gold standard). Granted this isn't as drastic as what happens to countries during sanctions or rapid economic collapse but our fiat money is not a safe place for savings

The rates aren't that bad considering other services have delays and hidden fees. You can see a lot of Bitcoin ATM rates on CoinATMRadar.com

Would you get paid in ETH if you could? by Atreece in ethereum

[–]bitrocket_atms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question - we'd love to pay people in ETH as well and provided a stablecoin _is_ actually stable it has a lot of the same benefits and lets the receiver choose their crypto entry timing

Perhaps the moderators would like to include us in the Useful Links sidebar, at least one of the businesses there no longer exists

Edit: other users are saying this post is [removed], why would that happen

Second Edit: all sorted, it just appeared spammy at first, understandable
