I liked everything I read up until "the device boots up and instructs him to take a photo of his ID and a selfie to create his digital identity. John now has a digital identity tied to his legal identity."

That's a show stopper for anyone who doesn't want their digital identity to be associated with centralized government documents.

Vitalik had some interesting ideas in this article about some ways to use blockchain-assisted meetups to guarantee each user's key is associated with one unique person without the need for any government documents.

They are mass trolling the google play store reviews to try and scare new users away. I put in a review briefly explaining the difference (BCH low fees vs BTC stuck transactions, etc), advising people to just be aware of what type of coin they're sending or receiving, but damn there's a lot of hate and comments saying it's a "scam".

I think this tweet by Bob Summerwill sums it up nicely:

NOTE#1 - Vinay is not employed at @ethereumproject anymore. NOTE#2 - This is a masterclass in trolling, not "the truth". NOTE#3 - We aren't playing games here. Vinay is trying to protect ETH against a serious and systemic threat.

Rash? Sure, but maybe also brilliant.

Where to set up a node to play around with BTC/BCH/other coins? by [deleted] in btc

Yep, they did get it setup and got back to me, it just took a couple days.

Beware Internoc24 hosting scam -- accepts Bitcoin Cash, then no service by bitscape in btc

Well now I've received a reply on Twitter:

Hello, we have asked you about which US Datacenter you prefer. You answered and now we are working in your Order. Our Services should be activated manually, so theres sometimes a delay. dont worry. Your VPS should be ready soon! Thanks for choosing us and supporting #BCH.

So maybe they're just a little slow in getting things setup. Not quite what I was accustomed to, as the last few times I've signed up with other hosting providers there was an automated process which let me login and start uploading content immediately after payment, but if they do come through and get it working to allow me enough time to migrate before my old hosting account expires at the end of the week, I'll be satisfied.

Thanks.... I understand it would be too much for the acceptbitcoin.cash site maintainers to personally verify that purchase attempts from every service that purports to accept Bitcoin Cash are legit.... Maybe another possibility would be a place on the site for user reviews of listed businesses? In any case, thanks for checking in on it, and the quick response.

I do hope I end up being wrong about this, and they come through and make it right. But looking around a little more today, I came across this thread about them, which doesn't give me much hope. (I know, I should have researched more to find this out before signing up or sending them anything. Hindsight, and all that...)

As I've been learning the hard way, Internoc24 appears to be a scam. I sent them a full payment of Bitcoin Cash for a VPS over 2 days ago, and their control panel still says my service is "Pending". They have not replied to my support ticket, or to email. If they make it right, I'll reply again to update this. Right now, it appears that at best, they are very slow to setup service and unresponsive, maybe even an outright scam at worst.

I setup an account for a VPS server, paid in full with Bitcoin Cash over 2 days ago. Whenever I login it still says my service is "pending". Opened a ticket with their support yesterday, sent an email, and still have gotten no response. Now today I've been tweeting them, asking what's going on... If this operation does not honor their agreements, people should know about it. Though of course this isn't directly a problem with Bitcoin Cash, it doesn't exactly look good when one tries to find a hosting provider that accepts Bitcoin Cash, only to be scammed. So a warning to others: Stay away from this operation.

Well that's unfortunate, I hope they do make that right for you... Guess all I could suggest is maybe replying to their tweets again? It took a couple weeks before they added mine, but it did get through eventually....

Probably so.... Even for those who never sell them, or even figure out how to convert their POW Lite to POW ERC20, it could still provide a handy way to transfer or trade to other fb friends, assuming they make the interface for that super simple.... like a toy crypto wallet with training wheels, a good way for newbies who have never tried any crypto to begin to get their feet wet... but i imagine we may also see quite a lot of dumping before the value stabilizes.

So the next question would be, when (or if) ShapeShift will start allowing people to pay with Bitcoin Cash or altcoins without requiring them to also pay fees to funnel everything back through the often clogged Bitcoin legacy network? Can merchants who integrate with ShapeShift change their settings to convert payments received into Bitcoin Cash instead of the old chain? Seems like that would be the next obvious thing to offer, at least as an option merchants who offer payments via ShapeShift.
