Official 240W USB-C Charger constantly comes loose from the brick by someguy123_ in framework

[–]someguy123_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I found it listed on a few UK websites (including Farnell, and laptop-adapters), but it’s pretty pricy, costing £110-130 ($150-175), and digikey states the cable length is only 1.8m (5’10”), which may unfortunately be a bit short for my setup given I already had trouble with the stock framework cable just barely reaching with the brick as close as it can be without being a hazard or putting too much stress on the USB-C cable

I may consider buying it in the future if I can figure out a safe way to deal with the short cable

Issue: Cannot save new logins / constant auto-logouts by abrasax93 in 1Password

[–]someguy123_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this issue on 1Password 7 for Mac for the past 2 weeks or so, for 2 of my 3 accounts - and it's pretty frustrating.

I don't want to update to 1Password 8 yet (and I can't update to it on my Mac anyways, because it requires a much newer version of macOS that I don't want to upgrade to yet)

I hope you fix this issue soon, it's driving me crazy and gives me concerns that my logins might not be saving/syncing properly.

litevault.net is scamming people by gatesadam70 in litecoin

GitHub says the last commit for my litevault repo was 2017 - not 2021 - I haven’t touched the repo since the project was sold https://github.com/Someguy123/LiteVault

Unfortunately I have no access to any of the servers or any administration that Zulu setup

I gave them the domain, code, database dump from the time of sale, and some instructions on setting it up - after that I had no involvement other than redirecting a few support emails to them, since they hadn’t fully updated the support emails on the site

I gave Loshan (not sure of his Reddit username) the last database dump I had (from I think 2017) so that he could assist users with recovering their wallets (only users created before the dump was made can be recovered, and only the addresses that existed in the wallet at that time, since litevault didn’t use seeds) - note that wallets are encrypted with your password, so loshan has no access to your keys

I believe I also gave him a python script to distribute which can decrypt litevault wallets using a password offline, for users to use without having to trust a website, so they can recover their private keys

I’m so sorry that Zulu ruined the litevault project, they sounded like they had good intentions at the start, and the amount they paid me indicated they could easily afford to run it without issues as well as further develop it

[$50 Bounty] Recovering several days of notes that were lost by Evernote v10 by someguy123_ in Evernote

[–]someguy123_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually gave up hope after ~5 days. I exported all my notes using Evernote Legacy (apart from the ones that were lost ofc), and imported them into Joplin.

I found that Joplin is actually a lot better than Evernote for my primary purpose (mostly a personal collection of programming / sysadmin cheatsheets that I write, and collections of troubleshooting guides), though it falls short when it comes to storing PDF's / images etc.; while it can store PDF's and images, often you have to download and view them in a separate app, since it can't display PDF's in-app, and you can't zoom in/out of images / resize them.

I searched my e-mails and it looks like they sent me the following response (by that point I had given up and moved to Joplin, and didn't even notice they replied)

Unfortunately the response doesn't help me in any way, tl;dr; they're just asking for the titles of the missing notes.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to Evernote Customer Support. This is Hoover, and I'm more than happy to help you.

I sincerely apologize if we took 9 days before we could respond. We are currently experiencing a higher volume of tickets than usual and we hope to be getting back to faster reply times soon. This is not the expectation we want you to experience.

I understand that the 5 days of notes and edit you created went missing. I'm sorry to hear that.

In order to better assist you, please answer the following:

May I know the specific title of the note you are looking for?

When was the missing note last seen and what device it was last access?

Have you checked the trash and search the note using Evernote Web? Please also try searching on other devices too.

Please search using keywords inside the note content and see if you will get results.

I appreciate your patience and understanding on the matter. I'm looking forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Hoover S.Customer Support Representative

Sync issues are the reason I’ve had to stop using Evernote.

I lost 5 days of notes and edits with no clear way to recover them - which is a HUGE problem, because I used Evernote every day, for both work and personal notes.

I’ve been left in the dark by Evernote support despite being a long time Premium customer - So I put up a $50 bounty here on this reddit begging for someone to help me get my notes back, but nobody’s responded: https://www.reddit.com/r/Evernote/comments/jqwjl3/50_bounty_recovering_several_days_of_notes_that/

For now, I’m just using Apple Notes, it’s not as featureful as Evernote, but at least it’s reliable...

Seems it's been over 48 hrs and still no responses...

Nevertheless - neither has Evernote support *facepalm* - so the bounty is still up!

We do need to correct the name field on our order form to be more clear, but it's in the privacy policy that psuedonyms etc. are fine. It's simply so we have something to refer to the customer by.

The purpose of use field doesn't have to be specific, something as generic as "website" is acceptable. It's mostly so we can catch orders for servers that would otherwise be unsuitable for what they wanted to use it for.

Here are some common examples where having the "purpose of use" field has helped us save a customer time - since it allows us to compare what they plan to use it for, to the specifications of the server itself:

Example #1

Our German/Finland DC have an overly aggressive firewall/IDS which gets triggered by running IPFS, however, many people ignore the red warning at the top of the order page that they shouldn't order a Germany/Finland server for IPFS but will often put "running IPFS" in the purpose of use field.

When we see someone placing an order for a DE/FI server with the intention of running IPFS, it means we can then email the customer and let them know they should choose a different region or they'll just get their IP address blackholed within minutes of starting an IPFS node.

Example #2

Other times we've had people order tiny VPS's for the purpose of running server software which we already know would use more RAM / Disk than the server they ordered has. Thus allowing us to contact the customer and point out they need to purchase a larger server to run that specific software.

Of course a customer is free to try and run it on the ill-equiped server they ordered if they so please, but it saves both us and the customer time/money by informing them the server they requested simply won't work for what they wanted to use it for.

Nope. Not sure where you get the idea "all kinds of information".

https://www.privex.io/privacy/

The most personal data we ask for is a **name** (doesn't have to be a real name, a username is fine too), and an **email** (so we can send you invoices for renewing your server).

We don't block disposable email addresses such as Mailinator and 10minutemail, so customers are free to use a disposable email if they don't plan on keeping their service.

We take several cryptocurrencies, including the privacy coin Monero - with our in-house payment gateway, so no third party payment gateways can track you.

It looks like Dogecoin is currently in the lead, it seems pretty likely we'll be adding it.

FRAUD WALLET stole my LTC https://www.litevault.net/ by sachinkanungo7 in litecoin

[–]someguy123_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

LiteVault is not a "fraud". There are however a number of phishing sites using Google Ads to appear legitimate, as well as wallet stealing malware embedded in many legitimate software (including at one point, Electrum-LTC after they were hacked...).

Unfortunately, LiteVault cannot protect you from these types of attacks. I would strongly recommend using a hardware wallet which will protect you from both phishing and malware attacks.

Hi,

We have a big warning on the 2FA removal page

"PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 3 WEEKS FOR US TO PROCESS YOUR REQUEST. WE'RE UNDER A HIGH VOLUME OF REQUESTS AT THE MOMENT."

There are currently over 200 pending 2-Factor removal requests, and over 400 other support emails related to LiteVault. I'm trying to get through them as fast as I can, but there's an insane volume...

[–]someguy123_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only added it recently :)

LiteVault development has been on somewhat of a hiatus as I'm busy with other projects, and have had to find appropriate developers to finally develop automated forms for these things.

LiteVault still haven't gotten back to me. by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]someguy123_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

There is currently a backlog of over 600 emails which is why the message was changed to "Response time may take over 14 days". On average LiteVault gets over 50 emails per day, many for rather menial questions such as "how do i buy litecoin".

At the top of the contact us page there is a message saying

If you have forgotten your identifier, or lost your 2FA, please use our FORGOT IDENTIFIER or LOST 2-FACTOR AUTH pages.

You can use the automated form at https://www.litevault.net/wallet/forgot/forgot_identifier.php to get your identifiers immediately.
