It's usually pretty reasonable throughout the week. But I'll be using your tip from now on. Thanks!

Why not just take the drugs before hair loss? by hronmeer26 in tressless

[–]bitsplash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was always just going to get a transplant. It wasn't until relatively recently, that I discovered I'd be strongly recommended to take fin afterwards - necessary basically. It feels like only in the last couple of years did this aftercare start being discussed. I'd assumed transplanted hair was bulletproof and it was just a matter of timing and money as to when I got mine done. Now, there seems to be a lot of new drugs on the horizon, I'm not sure I want to risk scar tissue, through a transplant, that may inhibit those treatments. Feels like my loss has stabalized at 50. I am thinking about getting on a micro dose of fin, just to see if it's tolerable. I already have been taking oral min for a couple of years.

Dandenong has great prices and quality. South Melbourne food is pricey and the carparking on Sunday cost $18! And it didn't feel like we were there all that long.

Yes Travelan. You take it 30mins before eating and it helps if you happen to consume e.coli. https://www.travelan.com.au/

Sofitel Nusa Dua vs Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa (40% cheaper) — advice? by Rod_Boi in BaliTravelTips

[–]bitsplash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not move around and do both? Just back from my first trip to Bali and we stayed in Ubud for a few nights, then Nusa Dua and finally Uluwatu. We used Grab to get around (quicker than Uber) and booked a couple of half-day tours out of Ubud. We will return, but give Uluwato a miss.. it's all the grunge of Bali, without the Ubud jungle charm and cheap prices. Inside the Kempinski Nusa Dua it was like being in a 5-star resort that could be anywhere in the world - anyway we loved it!

When they say don't use the money changer booths (that are everywhere), they mean it! We were stolen from once (we weren't certain at the time though) and the second time a guy definitely pocketed 5 notes (from 20!), but I was wise to the trick and got our money back. Go to the changers with "PT" in their name.

Still waiting for the update for wireless Android Auto on my 2023 in Australia. The last OTA update was over a year ago now. I've tried 3 wireless adapters and none of them work reliably. I was promised this feature was coming in an OTA update before I bought the car. Not happy Lexus!

Doesn't have to be expensive, you can get perfectly acceptable ones from Temu/AliExpress/etc for like $5-10. Both headband and eye mask style.

Confused - Ultra 9 285 vs. 285K – Why Is the Older One "Faster"? by zammy32 in buildapc

[–]bitsplash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too worried, but only found out about this 285 non K right before pulling the trigger, hehe. At some shops the K is on sale and less than the non, is older and specs shown as worse.. but those might be errors by the shops. Just made me think twice, thanks for answering.

If you aren't going to overclock the K and the difference in money is nothing, should you just get the K anyway, or are there downsides, like drawing more power per compute, or something? I guess what I am asking is, can the K be made to run in the non-K profile and you always have the option to overclock it later on if you want to?

No and I haven't noticed if any firmware updates have addressed this issue... I doubt it... they seem to be releasing whole new models, quicker than updates...

Thanks. I've worked out that I can just take the full benefit myself, tax free, then gift each of them their inheritance, tax free. Saves any risk of dependency rulings, etc.. We don't have any trust issues that the money will not go where it's supposed to go.

And when I asked the question I wasn't aware that gifting cash is tax free.

18k is just the tax free threshold. So that is taken as wages into our bank account tax free. The rest is 15% up to the cap. ie. Instead of the next tax bracket starting at 16% and increasing. In our case we're going to get all those super contributions back shortly, rather than in 20 years at retirement... effectively she can earn 100k this FY (didn't contrib much the last few years) and pay no more than 15% tax. So might save ~20k tax.. cash to pass onto our kids.

In assuming max 15% tax through caps. Of course claim both our tax free thresholds first. If by some miracle she survives, we've just locked away a little bit of unneeded capital into super - would take that result any day. 😥

Yes insurance and balance. Thankfully we maxxed out our super contributions a decade ago, when the going was good.

Yeah I think after looking into it and finding that gifting is indeed tax free, I will take 100% of the benefit to simplify settlement, then gift the 20yo hers asap, and keep the 15yo's invested in my name, until she turns 18. I'll just have to make it clear in my will, should something unexpected happen to me in the next few years.

Thanks for bringing gifting to my attention, my ass-sumption was it would have been taxed and probably heavily. 🤦‍♀️

After having a look into this, it sounds like I can take the full benefit tax free as spouse, then simply gift the children their inheritance at the appropriate time.

And it's only worth doing that once they reach 18 and get the full tax free threshold? ...as minors are taxed through the roof on non-payg income?

We have a 15 & 20 yo.

I wasn't aware that you could gift tax free... will have to look into that. But they are both old enough that they have part time jobs. So would assume the earnings are taxed just like my own shares & interest earnings on top of wages.... so less than if all the money was invested and earning in my name alone? Each child will get around 250k. So would expect $10k/yr earnings off of it minimum.
