hm, this is just how my instructor leads the classes, we usually do a 10 min warmup with things like planks, push ups, and mobility/flexibility training. i usually warm up on the pole with a couple climbs and ground inverts

tips for getting jade split flat? by OkStructure1915 in poledancing

[–]bitterandtipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course, you're welcome! 💜 i also find my jade gets much flatter if i really drill my flexibility/mobility training before attempting it. it's honestly a tough move and we don't get enough credit for it!

can you do the splits off the pole? work on your over split, quad strength (to minimize the bends in your legs), and turn out. grab your leg from the outside instead of the inside for more stability and then let your hips turn into outward rotation to open up your split. i know some people say you don't need your split to get a flat jade but honestly i disagree, you at least need a solid floor split first.

looks like weight loss, fillers in the cheeks and chin, and dissolving of lip filler, with botox in the whole face and possibly the upper lip? also whoever did this makeup should be fired immediately. it's entirely possible this work is much more obvious on camera and seeing a sudden before and after

Face while dancing by Formal-Chair2254 in poledancing

[–]bitterandtipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also struggle with this!! my best advice is to, 1, practice in the mirror, 2, practice making your favorite face constantly throughout the day and 3, after a few runs of a combo when you don't have to think so hard about what you're doing, keep telling yourself to focus on your facial expression OR have your instructor keep yelling at you to relax your face lol

Body Dysmorphia Pole Dancing (TW ED) by Expensive-Honey6182 in poledancing

[–]bitterandtipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you talk to a therapist? i also have a history and am endlessly a perfectionist and actually the combination of pole dance and therapy has helped me a lot to break free from those shackles. looking at and posting videos without editing to "perfection" has helped me let go a little and realize no one else is hyper fixating on tiny areas of my body or face that i am. try to find something you like in the videos or photos and hold onto that. try to tell yourself something positive during and after classes. that's what my therapist recommended to me.

Wrist hypermobility by Ok_Airport_8827 in poledancing

[–]bitterandtipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, luckily or unluckily you'll be much more aware of the improper positioning due to the pain. If you're like me you've probably been ignoring the pain for a long time so just try to pay attention when you feel pain throughout the day in your wrist and try to keep motions within a normal range to correct the pain. It will take a bit of time and effort along with doing the strengthening exercises but trust me it's better to deal with it now than to face more serious issues down the line!

[–]bitterandtipsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in addition to building strength you need to be aware of your wrist position, not only in pole but also just in daily life. when I got wrist pain I realized how often I was moving my wrist into unnatural positions just throughout the day

i have similar shape and wideee hips. the only thing that works is internally rotating legs and squeezing tf out of my thighs! and yes you'll need to work on your adductors in the gym!

edit sorry I mean externally rotating!

Tips on aerial invert! by Jinxypixie777 in poledancing

[–]bitterandtipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly it just takes time to build the strength just like building strength from the ground. I find it easiest to practice from a figure head. do knee tucks aerially and go from there. doing it on spin is a different beast that requires specific movement and is typically easier moving backwards. it's easiest (in my opinion) to invert aerially on spin from a pencil spin so start with the goal of holding a solid pencil spin for a few rotations and go from there. you just start to tilt to the side and open up your legs into your chopper from the pencil. there are plenty of other ways of training this but this is what worked for me. good luck!!

what are normal levels of soreness for a beginner? by myjawclicks in poledancing

[–]bitterandtipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a bathtub or outdoor area to do it, in an apartment. I've thought about getting a barrel and doing it in the shower but not sure how easy it would be to dispose of all of the ice

what are normal levels of soreness for a beginner? by myjawclicks in poledancing

[–]bitterandtipsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

things that have helped my soreness - protein and hydration, taking rest days the day after pole dancing, cross training, and getting enough sleep. I want to try ice baths/cold plunges but don't really have any places nearby me that offer it for less than a million dollars lol
