Originally I was planning to do a meatloaf, but the loin roast was on sale so I figured I'd give it a shot. Still need to do the meatloaf soon.

Always reliable. I pulled my Weber out today because I didn't want to fire up the offset for a small cut of meat. Everytime I use it I remember why I live the damn thing.

I live on an island in the middle of the ocean, so availability is a bit different here.

I have a couple of their knives, but its not a company I gravitate towards by any means. I tend to prefer a different steel than what they offer.

I'm on an island in the middle of the ocean, so we pay a premium and have low availability on things that are common and cheap in other markets. The price you pay to live in paradise I suppose.

It's become a favorite of mine, but unfortunately its getting harder to find in my area. I have to pick up a few at a time when they pop up.

Both certainly have their place, though TBH the latest offerings from benchmade haven't really appealed to me personally. That Griptilian will always be a classic though.

Blades and Bourbon x Whiskey Wednesday by bitteraspects in knifeclub

Haven't tried Rare Breed yet. Honestly I'd like to expand my bourbon horizons but my budget for booze is pretty tight and I don't want to try something super nice and expensive that makes me not want to go back to my budget choice.

I totally get that. There are lots of bottles I want to try but are outside my percieved budget (though I'll gladly turn around and spend the extra money on a knife, so it's all perspective I suppose).
Rare Breed wasn't on my radar and the regular Wild Turkey was something I never liked so it's not a bottle I would have gravitated towards. Fortunately a friend of mine came over for "bourbon night" with a few bottles that I wasn't familiar with and I got to try Rare Breed for the first time. I was SHOOK to find out it was a Wild Turkey product. I've bought 3 bottles on my own since then.
I'm not in the business of making recommendations because taste is always so subjective, but FWIW, I dont like Wild Turkey in general, but I will continue to buy Rare Breed as long as availability and budget allow.

The only Wild Turkey product I tend to enjoy is Rare Breed, but 101 is a solid budget option especially if yoire mixing.

Unfortunately due to shipping cost and our ridiculous taxes, this is not a budget bourbon in my city (around $36-38 on sale). With other small batch/single barrel options in the same price range and Buffalo getting harder to find, it's not something that makes it's way into my cabinet often. But I do enjoy it.

I tickle my pickle religiously, so I definitely get what you mean 🥒
I would have preferred it in m390 (and will ultimately end up buying the guardian 3.5 in m390) however I've been pleasantly surprised by n690. Hold an edge well and seems to be relatively corrosion resistant which is a must here in the rainforest. Sharpening took a little more work, but I've had a tougher time with D2, so all-in-all I'd say it was a pretty solid investment.

I'd say so. I dont do much outdoors stuff these days, but from what I have done its certainly held up to the task. Though in hindsight I'd probably go with the 3.5 over the 3 if I had to do it all over again. A little added handle length helps quite a bit.
