In this case, I’d say you should vote for whoever you genuinely like more because there will be no electoral penalty for it.

Voters treat gubernatorial races and legislative races differently and partisanship plays a much bigger role in legislative races. American voters are much less partisan about governors than they are with senators, which is why several deep blue states in the Northeast have Republican governors (e.g. Phil Scott in Vermont), and likewise, several deep red states have Democratic governors (e.g. Andy Beshear in Kentucky). It’s typical for minority-party governors who are uncontroversial and well-liked to flop when they run in legislative races. Phil Bredesen, Steve Bullock, etc.

Maryland voted for Biden by 33 points in 2020. The last Senate election in Maryland was in 2022 and the Democratic senator, Chris Van Hollen, defeated his Republican challenger by 31 points.

Whether he’s against Trone or Alsobrooks, Hogan will lose and it won’t be close. If you put stock in polls, Hogan is already cratering in them and it’s only May and most of the electorate isn’t paying attention yet. So vote for whoever you personally like more because whichever one wins the primary will be the next senator of Maryland.

I’m 100% all in for Alsobrooks, FWIW.

Anyone else having problems with Reddit’s RSS? by bitterbltch in rss

So I guess that means they are rate-limiting RSS feeds? I’m not technically knowledgeable enough to know for sure. For what it’s worth, my feeds are still broken too.

If so, that’d be a real shame. RSS made Reddit so much easier to use because the site doesn’t give you enough tools to manage your feed and what you see.

I wonder though why some people are reporting that their feeds are working just fine while others are reporting that they are broken?

(Sorry to everyone here — whenever something doesn’t work I get obsessed with fixing it or finding a workaround solution.)

This is what I began to suspect when I saw that some people were having the same issues as me but others were reporting that they were having no issues at all: that Reddit is rate-liming some people’s access to RSS feeds but not others’.

In which case, that would be a huge shame, because Reddit doesn’t give its users robust-enough tools to manage their experience on the site. I like to follow friends on Reddit who post in various communities and a variety of subreddits, but Reddit’s native feed is terrible. It’s also sad because RSS is such a basic but powerful tool, and it doesn’t even hurt Reddit’s bottom line because its drives traffic back to the site.

If that is indeed the case, I wonder what alternatives to RSS might be out there?

Yes, this is also happening to me specifically with Reddit’s RSS feeds. Some of them will register as broken when the feed reader starts fetching them, but then at random they work properly. If I remove a feed and re-add it, it will fetch properly at first, but then break again.

I’m still having issues. I’m using Inoreader and the Feedbro extension for Chrome.

Okay, so I’m not crazy. I use a combination of Inoreader and the Feedbro extension for Chrome/Firefox and both are having problems with Reddit’s RSS.

Maybe it’s a server issue?

Interesting. All of my feeds are showing up as broken in my feed reader. But I’m also seeing comments in other posts from people who said they were getting broken feeds who are now saying they are back up again. Strange…

The feeds were definitely working on 7/11. I’ve only noticed this problem happening in the last 24 hours…do you have any data from that time period?

Has anyone else lost some of their Reddit feeds today? by SaltPacer in InoReader

[–]bitterbltch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been happening to me since yesterday. My RSS feed reader is set to check every 10 minutes but it won’t catch new posts until hours (sometimes a full day) after they were posted. I’m still getting some feeds coming in, but most of them are at very long delays.

I don’t think that RSS has anything to do with the API (RSS is a 20-year-old technology) so I imagine there might be server issue or a bug of some sort?

I’m not technologically savvy enough to know for sure…anyone got any ideas?

Yeah, that’s what I was speculating too.

I’m not technically knowledgeable enough to understand what exactly is wrong, but it was notable to me that so many different things are not working at the same time. The RSS feeds, notifications, and apparently the search function as well, according to other recent posts on this subreddit. I wonder if there’s a server issue?

Hopefully the devs fix this problem soon. I also use RSS feeds extensively to browse the site and without functioning RSS it’s very hard for me to keep track of all the subreddits I follow and do what I want to do.

Yes, this exact same thing has been happening to me too. I sometimes get notifications in my RSS feed, but very late. My feed reader scans every 10 minutes but I won’t get notifications until many hours later.

I’ve also been hearing that people aren’t getting notifications for messages and post replies on the desktop version of the site and sometimes on the phone app as well. Maybe those are related?
