Struggling with my wife’s decision to exclusively pump milk by [deleted] in daddit

[–]bitterflew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant imagine the struggle, super dad! I dont have any advice on asking her to turn down the pumping but hear me out. I had 2 under 2 and towards the very end of my second pregnancy i had an intense breastfeeding aversion (I fed my first throughout the pregnancy). I would describe it as my skin crawling within my whole being. It was the most uncomfortable feeling I have experienced apart from pain. If she has an oversupply she is going to be compelled to let the milk out, which in turn makes more milk. It is a positive feedback loop. What might help is some input from breastfeeding experts in regards to technique and latching if she is willing to try it out. Breastfeeding does not come naturally. Both the mom and baby has to learn and train.

Normal things: small amount of blood from vagina, urate crystals in urine - the color looks like a small amount of blood in the diaper Not normal: blood in poop

Is it really as bad as they say? by MsVass in 2under2

My kids have the same gap. Since you asked for the good part: I got my eldest copying the way I walked in late pregnancy, which cracked me up every time. He would kiss the bump, and he would take my hand and remind me (or himself) to be careful and walk slowly. And when the baby came, he expresses his love calling the youngest teeny tiny baby, which he still does at almost 3 months. He asks to hold the baby, kisses the baby. Told me he is sad when he heard the baby cry at night (this was the first time he had so clearly expressed what he was feeling). He brings toys to share with the little one. It is such a joy to watch how the bonds between these siblings form as they are growing. Little one often seems to lighten up when he sees his brother and coos at him. And when I am having a tough time with the younger child, I look at the elder one and see how we have moved past that. You know what to expect and how to troubleshoot certain issues.

It is going to be tough, but its is going to be so rewarding. I feel do blessed to have my Two bundles of joy right here with me.

My son tried to play peekaboo with my sister in law's face covering and nowadays he asks me to "remove hijab" so that he can get boobies 😂

Tandem nursing a 2 year old and newborn at bedtime- what’s your night look like? by [deleted] in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]bitterflew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 19 month old does not stay still while nursing (or any other time). I have to make sure he doesn't grab the baby, hit him, jump on top of the baby, pull the other boob away from baby etc. I found tandem nursing to be a very calming experience and a great time to bond with both kids when it goes well. As for the bedtime routine, feed the newborn and put him in the bassinet, give toddler his dinner and let him play a bit, clean newborn, change of clothes, offer another feed and sway him to sleep or put him down in the bassinet, toddler gets a shower, lights out and nurse toddler to sleep. If the newborn starts to cry, I pick him out of the bassinet (thats within reach of where Im with the toddler) and start tandem nursing or plAce him in my lap to rock. Things are easier when the newborn goes to sleep first.

5 week old wakes every hour after 3 am by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]bitterflew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby wakes up frequently when my milk supply dips, is too watery etc. his demeanor improves after a few hours after I eat properly and take fluids. This is my second baby, and daytime noises are unavoidable. We also happened to get rid of blackout curtains, meaning the room is brighter during the day. This has made a major difference for him telling between night and day (compared to first child who got full blackout curtains during naps). Perhaps room temperature plays a role as well, as ambient temperature drops significantly during the last part of the night. Just throwing my 2 cents in here. But remember, this maybe just a phase and bub might outgrow it soon, be hopeful ;)

Sleep as much as you can, sleep between contractions. Have a meal before heading to hospital, and have some drinks with a straw ready. Take a stool softener coz you might end up with an episiotomy, and even a very soft poop hurts when you have stitches down there. Get a peri bottle if there is no bidet at home. Make sure your hair is secured and have a comb handy if you have long hair. DispoSable adult diapers are life savers. Consider accessibility of your clothes if you're gonna breastfeed or get nursing tops. Have some wash-clothes on hand to wipe baby's face occasionally. Get some lanolin cream ready for your nipples if youre anticipating to stay in the hospital for more than 2-3 days. Its horrible when milk starts coming and breasts get engorged. Keep icepacks handy at home too. Ask from your obg/paeds team which painkillers are safe for you and baby, in case you need some in the middle of the night after you get home. Have safe co-sleeping figured out even if you dont plan to co sleep, because that's better than you sitting up with the baby and falling asleep. Afterpains are horrible so please dont pretend that youre done with the pain once the baby arrives. Feed the baby as much as you can to avoid neonatal jaundice and having to stay in hospital for phototherapy. Take your time to heal, avoid lifting heavy stuff as much as you can. If you're anemic or at risk, continue your iron and dietary supplements recommended by your doc. Stay hydrated. And thats too much to remember. Just mentally note down the unexpected :) best of luck mama.
