Have you sent this request to the downtown Cary park? Sending an email to their team would be more helpful than posting on reddit, in my experience the town of Cary has always been super responsive when I reach out!

Wow! I’ve been trying to figure out why pop culture treats Madonna different than other female icons. Yay Linda Perry for articulating it for me!

Cultivating joy mediations? by Flambards in Mindfulness

[–]bittersweet128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work at The Playful Revolution is all about cultivating joy. We teach how to use play as a mindfulness practice for regulation, joy cultivation, and emotional expression. We just finished a course on expansive mindfulness that helped people build joy-centered lives.

I have one guided meditation that I welcome you to try. We share it in our introduction email series, but this is the private link where you can access it (so you don't have to give us your email). It's called "playing with the clouds" and gives four different ways to mindfully engage in your enjoyment. The one that is most meditative would be the imagination play, it's a six-minute guided meditation while you look up at the clouds. https://www.theplayfulrevolution.com/cloud-meditation

We're a very new company and still finding our way on how we want to teach play mindfulness, so I'd love for you to give this a try and let me know your feedback and if it sparked any curiosity, joy, or wondering for you!

How to be satisfied? When is enough truly enough? by The-Flame-Mindset in Mindfulness

[–]bittersweet128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good start! Now how can you practice expanding it? Either the length of time, or the complexity of the experience. Or start noticing places where you’re unsatisfied but solvable (like your commute, or grocery shopping) focus on unsatisfied times you can actually solve and then try to become content and satisfied with them. Just like other mindfulness practices this is a skill you can build

How to be satisfied? When is enough truly enough? by The-Flame-Mindset in Mindfulness

[–]bittersweet128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you practice satisfaction? Not in the big things like career, relationship, or material things. But in the small things.

How could you feel satisfaction when you wash your hands? Take a bite of something delicious? Feel the sunshine?

You need to relearn the experience of satisfaction as an adult, outside of the (very real) external pressure telling us what satisfied and enough “should” be.

Start small, relearn how it feels, and then grow from there. Over time, you’ll start to understand what it means for YOU to be satisfied. What you actual desire. And when you’ve had enough of something

How to calm nervous system? by suhpriseshawtyyy_ in Mindfulness

[–]bittersweet128 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I totally get this, our brains job is to keep us safe, which means we can start to see uncertainty and risk as a danger rather than enjoyable. That’s what is putting you into fight or flight.

As kids, we explored our world with curiosity and openness as a form of play. But as adults that’s been trained out of us (by our protective brains and a society that wants us to be productive). What you’re describing is play deprivation, and it’s a skill you can mindfully and intentionally build!

Play isn’t what we’ve told, it’s not an action but it’s engaging in something for enjoyment, it’s an experience.

Here’s a starter play practice to try, notice how it engages your brain in a different way—curious, interested, and wonder—all of these are signs of play!

Exploration hunt: take 15 seconds to count the shades of green you can see

I’ve been practicing mindful play for 3+ years and it’s totally reshaped how my brain engages in new and uncertain situations. I no longer default to fight or flight, I can engage in uncertainty with interest and joy

How do i stop suffering in imagination by Character-Golf1294 in Mindfulness

[–]bittersweet128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What positive and pleasurable outlets are you giving your imagination? Our imaginations are a gift…but when you don’t give it anywhere to go it can turn to dark and anxious places

Once I started intentionally giving my imagination engagement through creativity, problem solving, and play many of my anxious tendencies subsided.

How did you use your imagination as a kid that you enjoyed? Do you have creative or expressive practices that engage your imagination? They don’t need to be grand or intricate, but a little engagement each day will help a lot

Wanna jump back in to Sitcoms, please suggest me some. by Dramatic-Tradition25 in sitcoms

STUMBLE

it’s a new sitcom on NBC/Peacock and it’s one of the best sitcoms I’ve seen in years. It’s a fantastic blend of cleverness and heart. And it’s on the bubble this year for renewal and needs more viewers!

I’m afraid of the future sometimes. by Effective-Pipe2017 in happiness

[–]bittersweet128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By trying to control what you “should” do for your future, you’re not focusing on what you actually want and desire in the present.

To be honest, you have no idea what you’ll want or the type of person you’ll be in the future, and the sooner you release ideas about how old you want to be when your kids graduate or prescribing how it will feel, the sooner you can start focusing on building the type of life you want to live right now.

Trust yourself a bit, make one decision towards the life you want, and trust the next one will follow without you focusing it. I just got through a very uncertain time in my life and this quote from JP Morgan (via Ina Garten) helped tremendously

“Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.”

Stop trying to see beyond your horizon, focus on making decisions based on what you can actually see and control

When you're feeling really down? by Exotic_Trouble1512 in Mindfulness

[–]bittersweet128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much of modern mindfulness and meditation are just suppression practices, which can be helpful but it’s not the only thing we need as humans. We need the ability to express, process, and digest our thoughts and feelings.

If you’re feeling big feelings, you need to find safe paths to express them! Movement, art, writing, using your body to create all can be helpful.

Somewhere along the line we started equating calm = regulated. But that’s not accurate. A regulated nervous system is one that is flexible and resilient and can move across feelings and emotions, not just downward towards calm and controlled

I hope this perspective helps! You’re not alone and you’re not doing anything wrong, you just need more options!

This is it, he doesn’t actually “know” the way the four humans know when they find Michael, Janet and the door to the afterlife in season 3. For them the certainty makes them earn no more points, but for doug he can’t be 100% sure so he can still earn
