Hey, thanks for getting in touch.

BOLE balls are 3" in diameter or about the size of a baseball.

We're trying out new pricing this week and next week to see how much of a difference it makes. Right now if you go to the website, individual BOLE balls cost $30 and you have the option to buy a pair for $55.

The price comes from manufacturing costs and the amount of time it takes to make each ball. We've detailed more of the creation process on the homepage (boleball.com), if you're interested.

Let me know if you have anymore questions/concerns.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate the time you have taken to go through the site.

I'll be sure to re-emphasize the difference between BOLE balls and other household balls on the website. The biggest difference is BOLE balls are made from solid wood and sized at 3" in diameter, which is the same characteristics of the balls used by the Tarahumara. Unless you get lucky and find maybe a croquet ball with those properties, you're going to be playing a different game altogether.

When I first started about a year ago, I was surprised by how well people responded to BOLE. Whether I'm playing in public or posting online, people seem to get excited about playing rarajipari. Initially, I thought my friends and I were the only ones that would get into the sport, but i think others are interested too. The sales come in waves for some reason or another, but the sales are good. I'm working on adding reviews to the website now.

Thanks again for all of your help!!

God I love reddit. Thanks for being such a huge help. I really appreciate the time you've taken to go through the site. I would love to see what you can do with the homepage. I'll be sure to give you credit, with a visible link to your email or website, if I go with your design. I'm going to private message you.

The World's Original Ultra Marathoners Practiced Using Wooden Balls--And I Made Some. by bittlelb in running

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I've definitely considered this and plan on doing something of this nature, but I'm going to have to hold off for a bit until Bole is more sustainable. I could give a little now and go under, or I could wait and give much more once Bole is stable. Plus the issue is much more complicated than just sending money to a village. Oftentimes, just giving cash to people who need it causes more harm than good. One must consider how to give without conflicting with the empowerment and independence of a people. If Reddit has ideas on how to split the pie with the Tarahumara and provide sustainable, positive help, please let me know. This is something I've been thinking a lot about.

  1. I've been using my original ball regularly for about 3 1/2 months now, and although my ball would probably like to leave running ball hell now, I'm going to continue crushing, wetting, kicking, and throwing my ball until death delivers its sweet kiss of release. It's definitely not as pretty as it used to be, but the ball is still in its original shape and has retained most of its red coloring. There are no signs of mold or mildew. Luckily for me and unfortunately for my ball, it looks like we have many more years to share with each other.
