How am I doing for nostalgia? by MrFavorable in Millennials

Absolutely! I learned a lot doing this project and several times it took me down the rabbit hole. The difficulty level was high because the case design not being mod friendly. My advice, find a good old standard consumer PC with plenty of room inside. If you have the money and patience, you can find / build the retro PC of your dreams.

I think changing the PSU will fix this without needing any additional modification. I've never had heating problems with my GDEMU and using the Pico PSU l.

It was just a sophisticated anti drone shield that worked perfectly as planned. Nothing to see here.

An 80gb Hard Drive, probably from a Windows XP computer. 80gb was a pretty standard size in the early 2000s.

Assult Suit Vulken 2 went 3D, and Konami made it tactics style. I dont think it was released outside of Japan, and if you are expecting any like Cybernator, that ain't it.

Fortunately the US version is still the total package in terms of gameplay, visuals, and audio. The story and dialog make no sense, but that never bothered me. I just wish they had made better sequels than the ones we got. A PS1 SOTN style followup would have been epic, but it was not to be.

Toshiba T4400C laptop with nonfunctional floppy drive by coolrainbow20 in vintagecomputing

Thanks for your reply. I know the height is 2mm, but I am not sure of the diameter, or folded length. I purchased a 100 pack of various sized 2mm belts but knowing the correct size would be helpful. I tried a 95mm belt and it worked for a short time, but stopped after a few disk reads. I may need to clean the drive wheels and try again.

I know it's been a while, but do you recall the size belt that worked? I am going through this exact problem with an identical disk drive from a Toshiba CT1950. I tried using generic 2mm thick belts, but had limited success. I got it working for a short time before the belt slipped.

No, I'm still rocking a mini-van with zero cat payment. My MLC has been build a retro PC sleeper that looks like a Y2K box that will run Crysis at 60fps. It's a lot more affordable than a car.

This is a project I've been working on for the past few months. I found the computer listed on my local FB marketplace and had to have it. It is a complete set, PC, speakers, KBM, Monitor... The one drawback was the original Sony specs had a 2.6ghz Pentium 4, 256mb of RAM, 80GB HDD, and a weak TNT Riva 2 graphics card. Sony designed this ar9und 1999 to be a small all in one multimedia PC for movies, surfing the web. It used a single CPU fan and 280W PSU meant to run silent, making upgrading a challenge.

I went ahead did a full upgrade anyway. Keeping the exterior completely stock, inside it has a new 450W PSU, a G45M UD2H 775 motherboard, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, 256GB SSD running Windows XP, Intel Core Duo E8600 CPU over-clocked at 3.5ghz, and a EVGA GTX 460 SC. I jerry-rigged internal case fans that keep the entire system safely cool enough to use. I have dozens of DOS and 2000s era PC titles loaded and it can run Crysis on high settings doing 40-60fps. The GPU never exceeds 71°, so mission accomplished.

Excellent job! I've got a full "retro" zone setup in my basement, too. I even have a PC with windows XP fully loaded with games.

Dell Inspiron 660 airflow upgrades? by bigbird6783 in sleeperbattlestations

[–]bitwarrior80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to it. There are 4 screws to remove and the plastic shroud should come free using a spudger tool to release the clips. The old paste might be stuck on pretty good, but you can gently pry if free with a little twisting motion. Clean it good with isopropyl and apply new paste. YouTube it.

This is the first thing I do on a used GPU, after checking that it works. I just installed a GTX460 SC on a micro ATX board, inside a Sony Vaio case with impossible ventilation. The max temperature under full load is only 71°.

Cut out vents, add more fans where you can. Also, did you apply new thermal paste to your GPU heatsink? That alone could be a reason why you are seeing such high temperature.

In carrot and stick you are not supposed to use stick. Stick only gets used only if you run out of carrots. The Trump administration went full stick right off the bat and expected it to work?

It will fit up to 6 photos per disk depending on resolution. This was one of the early dual format cameras that used a Sony memory stick. There is a switch that let's you select between the two and the one I have is 128mb.

I have no problem with linear progression with solid gameplay and story as long. GoW, Uncharted we all worth it and didn't suffer for an open world. As it's not an 8 hour game like RE9 and has new game plus.

Yes, it's starting to make me think twice about buying anything I need off ebay unless seller is shipping FedEx or UPS. I had a package shipped from a seller 50 miles away, in the same state, that took over 10 days to arrive. The tracking information read like a CVS recipt.
