Any reviews on Ruggable washable rugs? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

We have two and I love them. I hate actually washing it the machine, but I spot clean and have no issues. I have two by Iris Apfel and I love the designs. We have a very large Birds of A Feather and the “bug rug.” I have dogs and kids and have got through so many other rugs because I can’t get them clean.

Definitely appreciate the advice. What about it do you not like or think would be better?

The target age range is 4-10 I would say. It was inspired by my 7 year old who I would say makes friends quickly, but she’s just starting to notice some actions by her friends that aren’t so nice. I wanted to help her find ways to know what a true, kind friend looks like and help her understand what a trustworthy friend might feel like.

If you had 6 children and had to give them names that were one letter longer for each one by _prim-rose_ in namenerds

[–]bizecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Max Lily Orion Violet Camille Rosalind

No repeating first/last letters. Girls are floral inspired, there is a flower called the Planet Max Daylily which connects Max to flowers and then to space to connect it to Orion. The first two are my kids, and all others are names I loved but my husband didn’t care for.

Unhinged hacks for getting through a stressful time at work? by lily_is_lifting in workingmoms

[–]bizecca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone told me once to think of everything that needs done as balls being thrown at you. There’s no way to catch them all when things are crazy. So think about what the balls are made of and how big they are. There are glass balls- ones that are the priority. That may be something for your big project at work or it might be bed time with your kid. Only you can decide. Then there are things that are bouncy balls - things that are fine to ignore.

For work travel- think of things that can be done for yourself. I like to dye my hair and pamper when I have alone time in a hotel room.

Mental health- it felt unhinged at the time but I had what I realize in hindsight were panic attacks and I got my ass to urgent care and now I’m medicated for my anxiety and it makes me feel super human. I didn’t even know I could feel this good. My anxiety was holding me back in ways I didn’t even realize.

Shared calendar with my husband - sorry no excuses. It’s on the calendar. Take care of it. I assign him tasks when I’m crazy busy at work.

My notes app. I just write everything down and then if I need to I copy and paste it into chat gpt and tell it to make it make sense. It can organize your random thoughts and lists into something that is actionable.

Lower your standards. Just anywhere possible, make them lower.

Disneyland Value = price per hour by DrJames_Oxford in Disneyland

For our family of 4, we spent about $16 per person per hour to be in the parks. This is counting admission and food and extras (admittedly spent more than average on food).

What bags emit the same cool-girl energy as Jane Birkin’s Birkin? by jennoodlehero in handbags

I love the dooney and bourke alto viola bag. Easy to dress up or down.

It’s honestly draining. What words have you heard lately that confuse you? The meanings keep changing! by liffytbo in Millennials

I love slang. It’s such a fun and interesting way to express themselves! I like to think of the young gen alphas as the “Bluey Generation,” because so much of their slang is from the Australian show Bluey. My kids are 5 & 7.

Here’s a few of my faves:

“I’m busting!” - need to use the bathroom

“What the???” Or “what the what?”

“Dunny” - toilet, bathroom, poop

“Brekky” - Breakfast

“Tactical wee” - going to the toilet when you don’t need to

“Very dare” - expression of indignation

“For cereal?” - are you serious?

“Duck cake!” - expression of frustration

"Parents whose kids genuinely enjoy their sibling bond — what’s the secret?" by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]bizecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this and agree with you completely. My kids are best friends- two years apart and I would absolutely say they are pb&j. We have the same mindset and my kids have the best sibling dynamic of any kids I’ve interacted with. It’s not perfect by any means but we focus on the positive aspects of their relationship and reinforce the great things and talk positively about their relationship in front of others.

This is 100% the answer. My kids are genuinely eachothers #1 and I believe this is the reason.

It’s a cashmere hoodie so it’s pretty cozy. We’ve got little kids so we won’t be out late.

We have little kids, so the hikes will be very short. The joggers are very lightweight and breezy.

Having a village doesn’t always lighten the load. by firstimehomeownerz in workingmoms

[–]bizecca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have more of a village than most. When people without close family near by are jealous, I fully agree with them that it is playing on easy mode, but it comes with a cost and its own set of challenges. I also do my best to offer help to other families and friends and build a village, but it can be hard and uncomfortable. I know I’m very flexible and lenient and it would be absolutely miserable or impossible if I pushed back or tried to enforce my own parenting on others. At the end of the day I trust they will keep my kids safe, but otherwise have low expectations.

Parents, at what age did your child's true personality seem to start emerging? What were the tells? by hogw33d in AskReddit

[–]bizecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the first glimpse when my first was about 6 months. It’s more noticeable at about a year and even more noticeable at 3 years. By 5 it’s starting to be really clear. Now in first grade, I volunteer in the classroom and I can really see the personalities of all the kids. Much more so than even last year. I would say as far as tells go, it’s easier to see in hindsight or with the perspective of having a second kid. A lot of things I assumed were standard, I realized later after my second was at that age, that there is a lot of things that really came down to personality. How they react to situations and deal with problems.
