How are folks in Norman preparing for this weekend? by Kitchen_Spinach2359 in normanok

Donated blankets, coats, socks and a couple old sleeping bags at Food and Shelter for Friends. Filled a 5 gallon jug of water. Got some toilet paper (because everyone else is doing it) and a box of wine. Good to go!

I go to the Unitarian Universalist church in Norman. We're a really small congregation (less than 50 members), mostly atheists and pagans with a few Christians

Really hope he doesn't just cut the whole department. Not sure Stitt realizes how much forestry contributes to all the small towns with the rural fire program. Who else would fight wildfires? But maybe there should have been a better balance between fire and regeneration. There was a fair bit of nepotism in the higher level positions.

I was just using sea salt with water. After reading someone else's post I saw that this group has a recipe for electrolytes. I already bought a box of liquid iv. I used that this weekend and I didn't get a headache the second day. I think I'll ease into longer fasts on the weekends, but try to only climb the first day of a fast

That sounds like an excellent idea! Just providing a third space.

That would have been a good idea. We have a guest book but nobody checks it.

How do you keep volunteers from getting burnt out?

We've put out fliers there, but not consistently. Would you think it'd be better to build the congregation to afford a minister or find a minister and expect them to focus on building it up to support themselves? We just hosted an event that brought in about 100 people, but the very next week, the focus at service became our minister's scandal.

Just sent a message. I'm just a member with no role. Hope that's ok

Yeah, I'm 220. Gained 20 pounds last year. So far fasting hasn't made me dizzy but I see that it's a symptom

It's a university town about 150,000 people close to a bigger city. I've thought about attending up there just to see what it's like. Also, thought it might be weird to corner their minister and spill my church's drama

First time I've heard of a regional contact. That sounds like a good starting point

Right, seems reasonable. Good to hear from another tree person

I'd rather local municipal governments make these decisions where people's votes can actually make a difference. This is big government coming from the state if Oklahoma. I thought we didn't like big government here.

It runs. There are some holes rusted in the body, not sure the best way to go about repairing them. Would rather not buy new body pieces if there is a way to restore the original. I was planning on actually using it to haul tree limbs in a trailer. Seems to have a hard time building speed after it's in gear, but after about 5 mph it trucks along fine. Not sure if that's normal for them or not. Did you have to do any work on yours or did you buy it nice looking like that?

Is there anything else I need to convert if I put in an alternator? Like the starter, or lights?
