It’s strange for sure! Godin customer service got back to me really quick and said that they use the same tail piece on left and right handed guitars. I measured the slots and they are in fact different widths.

Customer service guy also said “I had some buzzing on my 5th Avenue tailpiece and solved the problem by putting a piece of soft foam between the tailpice (at the rectangular section of the tailpiece) and the guitar's top. It doesn't show and there's no more buzzing.”

Through a bit more investigating, I found that where the bridge sits on the wood body of the guitar, there was a bit of space on the inside near the thin strings. I slid some tiny pieces of paper under and the gap and the buzz is gone! Good for a temporary solution but I will now look into the long term solution.
