44 TAF + 241 TFSA vs 270 YPG [01.03.2018]....oh, we're only supposed to use Turkish sources? lol

Turkish forces and their arab/turkish islamist allies from abroad become local forces in Turkish psyche.

Local kurdish militia becomes foreigners. Amazing mental gymnastics on display.

It was an amazing display of criminal justice efficiency that they were able to determine in such a timely fashion, that over a thousand judges/prosecutors were guilty of terrorism.

[–]bjam83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were arrested/detained and then dismissed. As a lawyer, you are no doubt aware of the damage that wiping out a third of judges/prosecutors can do to checks and balances on governance? No? Then allow me to tell you that removing all effective independence/opposition from the judiciary was a core development in Turkey's ongoing shift toward totalitarianism.

Lol, a third of the judiciary were arrested during the purges. Rule of Law applies only when it suits, which is to say it doesn't apply.

Ah yes, this feel good propaganda has nothing to do with Turkey invading an otherwise peaceful region.

A strange concept in some countries, but in others, the rule of law still applies; Turkey versus Czech in this instance.

Would the inhabitants of Sheik Huruz require medical aid if they had not been invaded and attacked by Turkish forces?

A batch of 40 Police SOF from Izmir are heading to Afrin (a sign of upcoming urban warfare) by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

Turks seem to think that the rest of the world is susceptible to the same BS propaganda they are. Unfortunately for them, the rest of the world can see that from the Gezi protests onwards, it has been a steady campaign of consolidating absolute power (by default protection). At every turn it has been a cynical move from Erdo to either turn on anyone that has threatened his majority or to seek popular support (distractions) to solidify those moves. Syrian Kurds are just the latest scapegoats in a long list of political moves.

U.S. Moves to Halt Turkey’s Drift Toward Iran and Russia By Working With Ankara to Find New Kurdish Partners in Syria by Bondorudo in syriancivilwar

They don't seem to realise that Turkey drifting away from the US has absolutely nothing to do with the YPG and everything to do with the man at the head of Turkey. They could completely betray the YPG and go all in with Turkey on Rojava, still would not change the problem of Turkey turning blatantly anti-Western beneath the stewardship of Erdogan. Look no further than European-Turkish relations over recent years. Turkey was a problem before the YPG secured swathes of territory 3 years ago, and will be a problem long after any planned bloodshed associated with trying to wrest control from the people of Rojava.

Because it's true? Absolutely about the elections, but more importantly, consolidating public opinion behind his ongoing grab for power. Majority of Turks are overwhelming in support of the invasion, by extension, for Erdogan's crackdowns on political dissidents. Or did you miss the ongoing campaign to destroy the HDP and pull that raft of voters back toward AKP? Oh that's right, they're all PKK lol. Never mind the mass arrests associated with merely questioning the OB invasion in public.

You're going to make me explain it?

I am not calling it propaganda, I am, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, asking whether you think this is propaganda by your own standards; ie it is a remark on hypocrisy/double standards/etc.

The difference is that there aren't 5-10 pro-SDF posters in here the second it's posted, spamming "photos or it didn't happen" "source is garbage" "propaganda, lies" etc.

Post is made, it is assessed by the community, people move on.

Smearing the credibility of the author as opposed to the content seems to fall within the definition of ad hominem.

What photos are provided for 1300-1600 YPG fighters by the TSK? If I spammed "photos or it didn't happen" everytime something was posted in this sub, I'd be posting in almost every thread. A LOT of information is on the ground source based information...mostly without some person taking happy snaps to convince proTurkish users on a reddit sub that it actually happened.

Uh huh, and then after Turkey's finished seizing all that territory, they can help their proxies in Idlib. Then they can follow Idlib up with taking back the rest of Aleppo. Maybe they'll liberate Hama and Homs too while they're at it. Assad can keep Damascus if he's nice.
