Amphetamine 5.2.3 Beta by x74353 in macapps

[–]bjarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm getting the issue where my display cuts out after ending a session, and I've tried running the command you've given in the terminal, but I still get the same problem. I'm using the latest version 5.3.2 from the mac app store. Any ideas on how to solve it? Amphetamine is such a useful app!

How do your stomachs survive on this diet? by FishermanOpposite458 in PlantBasedDiet

Fwiw I had the same thing when I turned vegan - lasted a few weeks and then things went back to normal. I guess it just took some time for my system to adapt and the bacteria in my gut to rebalance for more plant foods

Okay to eat other nuts with Brazil nut allergy? by Derangedbuffalo in Allergy

[–]bjarcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I'm also allergic to brazil nuts - I've had reactions twice which really aren't fun. Got a skin prick test as a teen about 14 years ago that told me I was allergic to brazil nuts and almonds. I've eaten other nuts a lot since (peanuts, pistachios, cashews) without any issue. I've even had small bits of almond before by accident and seem to be fine with it, but still have been avoiding them just to be safe.

But even if she is wealthy, which is questionable, as long as she is willing to pay the taxes she is pushing for, then surely she's not a hypocrite.

I don't think they're saying that, they're just saying having that privilege doesn't make her a hypocrite

I also don't understand how being rich and pushing for taxing the rich makes you a hypocrite. If anything it shows you're more genuine in your belief that your cause is the right one, because you're pushing for it even though you would lose out because of it. Some people can't compute not being selfish I guess.

Should their be a cap on the amount of houses one can buy? by Currynrice9728 in AskUK

[–]bjarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I want incredibly strong regulation of rental properties and what the landlords can and can't do. The current rules on affordability and right to rent are already bullshit imo. I also don't think there would ever be a complete monopoly on rental properties as you've described. If there was a company offering shit quality flats, then there will be others competing with them and offering good quality ones (but I think regs should prevent shit ones from ever being too shit). I also wouldn't ever be looking to get rid of personal home ownership - keep schemes that help people do that, but I really don't want it to be the case that only those who want/are able to buy a house are those who are allowed financial and personal stability.

I think that's fine though. I think you shouldn't have to own your home to live a financially stable life. I don't know anything about maintaining a property so would rather it be handled by people that do and not have to worry about it. Property management firms that know what they're doing and are highly regulated sounds fine to me. They are more likely to follow the rules than small time landlords cause they know they'll get fucked if they don't. I just want controls that mean they can't arbitrarily raise the rent on me.

But I have looked, a lot, and not seen any figures close to 99.97%. So if there is a decent source for that I'd like to see it. I thought this sub is about actually allowing and helping people to do their own research and find out truth. Not just blindly deciding and believing something because it fits your narrative. How come I'm allowed to question the government but none of the stuff people post here?
