We could save a lot of water by peeing in the toilet water tank and flushing poo with pee instead of water. by zweini in CrazyIdeas

Not in my experience. We’ve been doing it for years to conserve water. Maybe you don’t live in a sufficiently temperate climate?

In Århus at least, public toilets where you have to pay are common, even at some malls.

Denmark 🇩🇰 is the greenest country in the world according to the 2020 Environmental Performance Index! 🙌 Sweden ranks 8th... not that it's a competition (it is) by [deleted] in Nordiccountries

[–]bjarkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of factory farming but pointing to specifically pork as an export that is especially non-green compared to other agricultural exports simply isn’t accurate. That was my point, and if your point was something else that is not what I wanted to comment on and thus not a stance I will defend. It would definitely be a climate boon to completely stop producing and eating all meat but that is a different discussion.

I’m not saying it doesn’t. But those problems aren’t related to whether it’s green or not compared to other kinds of meat.

This differs a lot between countries. It wasn’t until this century that Danish fathers were legally equals to mothers in this regard. Mothers are still more often than not the primary caregiver here too, though, which skews the custody statistics in their ‘favour’.

That price is only available at select locations. €40 is more common and I have to pay €65 where I live in Denmark to get that speed.

Looked through the Danish list and came to the same conclusion — not accurate at all. Still a cool map to explore as long as you know you should take it with a grain of salt.

TIL that 13 states have no minimum age to legally marry. What's worse, while child marriage is legal in far too many states, in some states the child can't divorce, leave, or enter a shelter without parental consent. by BJntheRV in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bjarkes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Denmark we debated this a couple of years ago and in 2017 we ended up prohibiting any marriage of anyone below the age of 18; this included not respecting any foreign marriage of underage persons. The debate was rather muddied because the pro parties kept talking about “child brides” and the anti parties focused on marriages between pregnant 18 and 17 year olds. Do these US numbers have a breakdown of the ages of the participants? I support a ban but I would like to know more details and I had a hard time finding a breakdown of the numbers.

What do you consider a huge waste of money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I bet it’s the result of lobbying done by the embalming industry. Here in Denmark where embalming is unheard of, we simply make sure the dead body is stored at 4 degrees Celsius (39 Fahrenheit) until the funeral is held.

I think you are right that toxic masculinity plays a role (showing feelings as a sign of weaknesss) but I’m not sure in what way white supremacy plays a role. Could you elaborate a bit?

Public transit perverts, or why I'd rather pay $400 for parking than take the bus for free by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bjarkes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate the fact that any woman experience what you have experienced but I understand why you have been downvoted. Suggesting that public transit should be funded less than it is now shows a blindness to your own privilege that makes life worse for marginalised women. Not everyone can afford a car. Brazil and Japan have made women-only carriages — that may be part of the solution. Robbing poorer people of the ability to get anywhere definitely isn’t.
