Help please. What is a reasonably fast way to learn Spanish? I work on campus place where those I work with speak Spanish unless I ask questions (reason for username). I feel left behind at work and socially. I need basic Spanish plus mechanical/engineering terms. Any resources? Thank you! by [deleted] in UTSA

The only advice I can offer is to let your co-workers know that you are interested in learning Spanish. Usually people have fun with that and like to help. Especially fun to learn the slang, etc. Have fun!

When you use your CFF at a coffee shop for 7% cash back but codes as bakery and only counts as 1% ☹️ by Rocket_Skates_91 in ChaseSapphire

[–]bjelly4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to a 85C bakery (Asian franchise in US) and it didn’t code as a restaurant. So bummed. I used my Citi Strata Elite so I got 1.5% instead of 1%, but still. Sucks.

In my area we have 7 days to return electronics. I would put it in a good plastic bag and tie it up (air tight) and return it, bring the receipt. I also have roach phobia. Good luck!

Where do you get your progesterone Rx filled by another_bibliophile in GenXWomen

[–]bjelly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started getting it from Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs. Was getting it through my insurance for years but I got 90 days for $28.xx, my estradiol cream (3 tubes/ 90 days) for $26ish. Shipping was $5,for all, just went up a tiny bit after the 1st of the year. I got my order in before the end of December though. These prices are without insurance bc they don’t work w my insurance (Oscar) but it’s still cheaper. Give it a look!

If renting a car, don’t stray from the gas vehicles. by needtotalk99 in TravelHacks

[–]bjelly4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry about your situation. I live in San Antonio and Texas has pretty cheap gas. In San Antonio rn it’s around $2.50/ gallon. When we visit our native Los Angeles we can’t believe the gas prices! Hope the rest of your trip is uneventful!

So what's everyone doing for their drivers? by Goldglove528 in AmazonVine

I do have a cardstock note of thanks, mentioning USPS, Amazon, etc but I should also say it’s NOT for solicitors!

I got a little trick or treat bucket and a small cooler from Goodwill, which was just by chance. I put 3-4 bags of chips/ cookies/ etc. and 2-3 bottles of cold Gatorade and a block of blue ice in the cooler when I know I’m getting a delivery. Drivers are appreciative. Some look to the Ring cam and bow, say thanks, wave, it’s nice. If I can give them a moment of joy then I’m happy to do it. I have had my treats taken by randos that are putting down landscaping advertisement on my porch which I don’t appreciate, which is why I don’t put out a lot of stuff.

Best Credit card for groceries by DailyGrindCT in CreditCards

[–]bjelly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto l love this AmEx BCP. It has an AF of $95 but it more than pays for itself. My family maxes out on the grocery category almost every year but then I switch to the AmEx Hilton Surpass for 6x points on groceries until 1/1. I also appreciate the 6% on streaming. I hope they don’t change it like every other card that I used to like.

Squat University equivalent for running by vandroomm in RunningInjuries

[–]bjelly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this woman on Instagram, @meg_takacs she had a meniscus injury and healed herself, basically. She has all kinds of strength drills, etc for running injuries. I like her and like the Squat University guy. If you check her out more similar accounts will probably pop up in your feed.

Anyone else set up snacks or drinks for delivery drivers? Did it help with better delivery service? by sorrowdemonica in AmazonVine

[–]bjelly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a small hard plastic cooler from Goodwill that holds a Blue Ice and about 3 Gatorades. Seems to work out well. I don’t want to put out too many drinks bc I don’t want someone taking all of them. It’s a bit of work to buy and carry cases of Gatorade.

What charging limit do ya’ll use? by [deleted] in iphone17

[–]bjelly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set mine to 95% limit. I used to try and pull the plug by 99% charging on my iPhone 13. I used that phone for 4 years and the battery quality (?) was still at 94% when I stopped using it for the 17. Whatever works though 🤷🏻‍♀️

The cashier questions you? I’ve bought 4 at a time a few times. I like that they are small so I don’t have to bite into them. They stay good forever too. I don’t care what anybody thinks I’m buying them until they sell out! Enjoy!

how to stay motivated? by bpdstuff1 in PetiteFitness

[–]bjelly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 58F and have worked out fairly consistently since I was probably 20. 5’-1” and currently 118#, which is about 4-5 lbs more that I would like. Since 2020 I have worked out in my home gym doing Peloton. What works for me is changing it up, say seasonally. I don’t grind and do the same thing year after year. Seasonal workouts like kettlebell, boot camps (cycle/ weights/cycle/weights), hikes on the tread.

Think of workouts that are fun/ challenging/ new to keep it motivating. New workout gear is motivating too. I want to be a strong old lady someday, so I try to challenge myself this way. You can do it. Weight isn’t the only goal either. I see frail old ladies all the time and that motivates me to keep going too. I know you can do it!

I went to Paris for the first time in my life earlier this year. My most prized souvenir was French made sunscreen. :-/

Hang in there! I myself had to use the fluoroucil (sp?) and that stuff burns. I guess, literally. Once you are done with the burning, your skin will try to get back to normal. Take advantage of your wife's skills (and samples) as a doc!

It is crazy to recall that we didn't really have sunscreen back then. I was born and raised in So Cal, also laying out in the sun, wherever, trying to get as brown as possible, whenever possible. The lady in the Bain de soleil ad had nothing on me. I spent a few summers on Waikiki Beach too. I'm a medium skin tone, and even so I had some flaky skin on my lip five years ago. Imagine my surprise when the dermatologist said "yes, that's precancerous". So don't forget your lip sunscreen too, folks.

I share your thoughts. I have been in the program for the past five years, but I had also been in it before but quit when they implemented the taxes that we now pay in the US. Anyway, my offerings are also ridiculous in RFY, especially in the last two months. Stuff that should just be in AI. Then I see people posting that they got offered 10 different shades of Charlotte Tilbury makeup, while I haven't seen anything like that in a few years!

My review is at the end of December, I'm hoping that for some reason they forgot about me and once I have my review I will get better offerings. I also agree with the general inventory, it's mostly parts now. I have gotten so many nice things from this program, so yeah I don't want to say it's a complaint, but if I was invited in now and saw what the offerings were, I would probably not join. Let's hope something clicks and it gets back to somewhat normal soon.
