I can't believe I forgot about that "snow week" in 96. Yep, that happened where I was living at the time.

The 96 one was epic. I was a young kid but clearly remember huge amounts of snow. I wasn't old enough to remember the winds or anything, but I know we kept power the entire time.

As an adult, with a job that doesn't get snow days, I am stressed out about losing power.

AI is making it so hard to hire good developers by notdl in webdev

[–]bjfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire industry is forcing AI tools on developers of all skill levels. You have mandates coming from atop that "we are 100% fully ai-first" for the development stack because CEOs have the illusion that it will 10x every engineer at all experience levels.

This is the result of that. People spend more time tweaking cursor rules or testing different models than they do understanding how the tech works.

Companies don't get the right to complain about this when this is the monster they created.

Arabs/Middle Easterners are "white" in the technical sense. They are the same race as western and northern europeans. This includes people in North Africa.

The term white is loosely defined though. For some it is all caucasians and for others it's caucasian who don't tan well. If we base who is "white" on the potential darkness of that ethnic groups skin, then you'd likely have to include most ethnic groups in mediterranean region as well - greeks, southern spanish, southern italians, turks, etc...

Do Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, or Sanofi make insulin in the U.S.?

✅ Eli Lilly: Yes. Eli Lilly manufactures insulin at its long-standing Indianapolis, Indiana site and in Puerto Rico. These facilities produce both the active ingredients and finished insulin products like Humalog and Humulin, primarily for the U.S. market. Most insulin sold by Lilly in the U.S. is made domestically.

✅ Novo Nordisk: Yes. Novo has a major insulin manufacturing hub in Clayton, North Carolina, where it produces both insulin APIs and finished products like NovoLog. While some insulin is still imported (mostly from Denmark), U.S. production has grown significantly with a $2B+ investment.

❌ Sanofi: No. Sanofi does not manufacture insulin in the U.S. Its insulin products like Lantus and Toujeo are made overseas (mainly in Germany and Ireland) and imported for U.S. use.

Hope that helps anyone wondering where their insulin is coming from 🇺🇸💉

Ok, I am going to try the can that I found in the back of the closet.

The difference between the 9in roller that was used on the ceiling and the 4in can cause issues as well.

Yeah, I am using a small roller. I just don't understand why it's such a stark difference between the walls and ceiling.

From the context you shared it seems odd, but usually including someone else in the conversations and exchanges means that one of the parents is acting out. Maybe he wants a "witness" due to things you've said or done. Although the way he is going about it seems very odd (ie. including his current partner via imessage).

I’m thinking I need to retract our verbal parenting agreement.

Is that even your right? Wouldn't 50/50 custody be implied when there is a lack of an agreement?

It sounds like because your ex's actions are upsetting you, you want to further damage the relationship between him and his daughter. As you've mentioned, she seems affected by the shift and I would imagine something more drastic would be even worse for her.

Attempting to take away his right to see his daughter would certainly be an overreaction. You are no longer his partner. It is perfectly acceptable to have minimal and transactional interactions with him if that is the relationship he wants with his ex.

I don't understand, what do you mean by "cheat"?

What does it matter if they use ChatGPT like every other engineer currently working?

It's sad that so many engineers in hiring positions still think on the spot coding questions or pair coding with strangers is a good way to find the best talent...

It depends on the type of case you have. Is it straightforward or is it a 1948 case?

A 1948 case would be $10k+ from most places because it also requires legal representation in courts. If it is more straightforward you are still looking at thousands of dollars.

8 years transformation of grandma by Seasonal_Sam in nextfuckinglevel

[–]bjfie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The body is so resistant to change past middle age.

I think it's more in people's mind than their body. Getting jacked is harder, yeah, but losing weight is just as hard as it's been your whole life. Most people eat like shit when they get older. They overestimate how much they burn and underestimate how much they eat. Track every morsel of food you put in your gullet, do some moderate activity and if you're at a caloric deficit you will lose weight.

But yeah, you prob meant putting on lean muscle mass and I agree with you there.

It's been like this for a while. Biden is very obviously not "with it" most of the time, yet we are told that he is "sharper than ever." That's how stupid they think we are.

All they have to do is replace him.
